In the middle of the night last night, [livejournal.com profile] maaseru's new toilet broke. Yolande is visiting her. I got a phone call at 7 a.m. asking if Yolande could use my bathroom. Of course she could. I came out ahead in the deal: [livejournal.com profile] maaseru drove me to work, and we had breakfast at Nate's, which I enjoyed exceedingly.

At lunchtime, we had pizza (provided by the theatre) and a small party to say good-bye to Barry, the first of us to find a new and better job - today was his last day at the theatre. I'll miss him very much.

After I got home from work, Yolande joined me in the exercise room in the basement to use the treadmill. We had a terrible time getting the thing to work. It was rather embarrassing how long we had to hunt before we found the magic red button on the bottom that makes the whole thing work. So Yolande then treaded for a while, and I used the elliptical machine, followed by crunches, wall squats - is there anything more awful than wall squats? - well, they aren't so bad if you use a ball. I used a ball. And then the Bridge.

Then I went up to [livejournal.com profile] maaseru's place and we watched more episodes of Bleak House. In fact, we found it very hard to stop, and it was only the need to get a few things at the drugstore and grocery story that tore us away. The more I watch, the more I remember the book - though there are many pivotal scenes I could never forget, like the spontaneous combustion, and some key things that happen to Esther Summerson, and the scenes between Mr Guppy and Lady Deadlock.

So it was a good day.

But I desperately want time to write.

I enjoy reading your "this was my day" posts very much, even if I don't find a way to reply to them. I'm afraid the "this was my day" post I just put into my own LJ was a lot less pleasant than this one, alas, but it felt great to get it out! Work has been so frustrating.

I wish all the OLT people well. And I'm glad Nate's is still not closed!!

Nate's survives. No one seems to know how long it will last, but I'm enjoying having incentive to go there more often.
