A good bookshop is just a genteel Black Hole that knows how to read. - Terry Pratchett, Guards! Guards!
I have come to love audiobooks with a passion, as they get me through my elliptical huffing and puffing and help me walk down the street. But I can't stop to write down quotes as I go. To a quote-addict like myself, this can be annoying.

Still. I'm loving Guards! Guards!

I'm coming to admire Vimes very much indeed. He's getting better by the page.

Sharing is a good thing. Gods like sharing. They do.

I'm having such fun. Every time I start listening, I don't want to stop again.

I managed to write a piece of coursework on Guards! Guards! and "You Only Live Twice" when I was 15 - I love all Pratchett, but have an abiding affection for that one because of it. The other half and I can have whole conversations consisting of Pratchett quotes, so I think they stick in the head, written down or not. Although that may have more to do with the number of times we've both read the books...

Who's doing your reading? Stephen Briggs has spoilt me for all others.

Wonderful!

I do find myself remembering choice bits. Partly because I keep listening to choice bits over and over before continuing.

I'm not sure who's reading this, I'd have to check.

<3 I love all the Guard books, but that and Night Watch are two of my favorite Discworld novels. I've read them I don't even know how many times.

I'll get to Night Watch, eventually. Previously my favourite was, I think, Wyrd Sisters, because of the Shakespeare connection.

Guards! Guards! audiobook? Dear me, you are a lucky thing. My latest habit is podfic - audiobooks of fanfic. I've still not found many DW or TW, but in SGA there's loads (my iTunes has about 4 days worth...)

If you find DW and TW podfic, let me know, okay?

Nice to see you back! *hug*

Pratchett's books are wonderful in any form; I have many on audiobook and they're the ones I listen to the most often.

It's a wonderful way to do one's time on the elliptical machine. I'd be reading them anyway, probably in print form, but this is delicious.

I like to listen while I knit, or do repetitive duties at work.

I don't knit, but I sew, and yes, audiobooks would be great for that. Not that I've been sewing much lately.

Wonderful invention, and all the better that libraries carry audiobooks. Because they're still too expensive for me to buy on a regular basis.

Hie thee instanter to http://artcpodcast.org/index.php?post_category=podcasts to Aug. 30, 2007. ARTC is the Atlanta Radio Theatre Company. That's the first of their 3-part adaptation of Guards! Guards! They also have an adaptation of a Heinlein story, some Lovecraft, & lots of excellent, original stuff ["Brotherhood of Damn Sassy Mutants", etc.] There're lots of delightful things to look at, listen to, & download, all for free on that page. Of course, if you like their stuff, you're welcome to buy some, too. You could always have me get it for you & then ship it, to save you on postage; they're local. The ASFS show is when they came to our local sf club a few years ago.
