I came into my office this morning to discover that over the weekend, someone had broken in by breaking a hole in the wall from the corridor - perhaps someone who got into the theatre during the auditions that were held yesterday? In any case, they'd scattered the contents of my files drawers around the floor, scattered bits of Rolodex, and generally made an awful mess. But the computers are all right, I'm happy to say.

So now I'm sorting throught the mess, before going for physiotherapy.

Sorry about that.

Yes - thank goodness it's a rare occurrance! And thank goodness they didn't do more harm.

I'm sorry to hear this happened to you, but glad the computers are okay! They must have been terribly frightened! ;)

How odd, the idea that someone would just come in and do a little mayhem for no particular reason. If they are there to steal, you sort of get it, but this sounds very random and mean-spirited. Idiots!

I suppose they broke in after money and made a mess looking for it. None of the equipment seems damaged, except the wall, and the locks.

Seems more than a tad on the odd side that someone would target your office. Even more so that they'd want to use that particular method, all brute force and little thought.

Sad, too.

They must have thought I had money in my drawers. I did - about 13 cents!

I'm sorry to hear it. Whoever-it-is might have made such a mess while searching for a stash of cash, perhaps.

It might be a good idea to have the computers checked carefully for spyware/viruses. Not that the intruder is likely to have intentionally installed anything, but if s/he used a machine for random surfing, s/he might have gone to infested sites. (For that matter, check the browser histories for clues.) My mother got malware on her office machine when someone in the workplace was using it while she wasn't around.

So it seems. Probably someone who managed to sneak in through the door during auditions, hoping to find lots of cash in the office. As if we ever had lots of cash.

Good point about the computers; though they couldn't sure without passwords. (And didn't.) They don't seem to have touched them at all.

That's so strange, I'm glad that nobody was hurt though! *hugs* Keep safe and have a good physiotherapy~

Physiotherapy was great: trampoline, balance pad, and the strange contraption with which I lift weights with my ankle. I'm going to miss it!

Commiserations! It's very disturbing when you feel your space has been invaded like this, even when (thankfully) it's made more mess than done serious theft/damage. I had my windows broken twice when I lived in a ground-floor flat in St As: vandalism, not theft, but it was pretty frightening.

Yes, it's unsettling, but it's not as upsetting as it would be if it were my home. (In which case I'd be so worried about the budgies, too!) It seems they just made a mess looking for money.

Indeed, the welfare of the tinies is what matters most!

If having strong minds and tough spirits were what mattered, I'd back the little feathered guys against any miscreant! Sadly, they are too little to do much but be loud, cute and colourful.

Ick - what a mess to find! At least it sounds like they didn't actually steal or destroy stuff.

**sends good vibes to restore the space**

They got some money (not much) but it does look as if they didn't do much harm. Thank goodness.

We're still working on clean-up.

How unsettling. I'm sorry! No information is missing or anything? I'm glad the equipment is okay.

We've been sorting through the information (boring job), but so far everything seems intact. We have to go through the subscription info form by form, though. Big sigh.

Well, that sucks — I can completely identify. I walked into my graphics design office first thing one morning to discovery that someone had taken an ax to the internal door and made off with everything, even my boom box. So they did take the computers in that case, but I still remember standing there, looking at the door, thinking, "Whoa. Somebody had an ax." And trying not to suspect that my boss had it done for the insurance money. :(

Oh, how awful!

I don't know whether these people used an axe or not. They used something on the door - a crowbar? - and then used the same thing, or an axe or something, to get through the wall.

Poor deluded fools, if they thought we had any money around....

Someone inside the OLT took the time to bust a hole through a wall into your office? Are you serious? (I'm not asking -- I'm just astonished!) How incredibly and totally pointless of them.

Be prepared to be interviewed Officially. "Are you a disgruntled employee? Why do you think someone chose your office? Did you do it yourself to strike back at the OLT, and divert suspicion from yourself in the very effort?" And all that crap.

(As if you had nothing better to do than vandalize a wall. Then again, maybe this was payback for having to do those wall squats, eh?)

So were we.

How incredibly and totally pointless of them.

Not to mention 'stupid'.

Hmmph. Which reminds me that I haven't done my wall squats for the day.
