Writer's Block: If you could pick any TV show that has been off the air to come back for one more season, which show would you pick and why?

Firefly, because it was brilliant, because I loved the characters, all the characters, and because there was so much story still to tell.

And because of its viewpoint on freedom.

Great minds think alike! No one can say we don't have good taste. Or at least... they can say it, but they'd be wrong. [g]

Ditto. Firefly would definitely be worth reviving, with [livejournal.com profile] xinef's proviso about cast and (more important) screen-writers.

On my own hook, I tend to have a hankering for old cop shows, so I would have said McCloud, Quincy, or Hawaii Five-O.

I'm not sure anyone but Joss Whedon could do Firefly right, and I'm not sure he could, or would want to, now. But. If only.

I'd like to see a new version of The Man from U.N.C.L.E., if done right, perhaps with David McCallum in the role of Mr. Waverley's successor.

Funny thing: most shows I have loved (like X-Files) went on too long, and I wished they'd stopped sooner. I'd have happier memories of them if they had.

I suspect [livejournal.com profile] dewline's comment about "Danegeld" (on your Watchmen post) is all too appropriate. :-/

Well - it's the so-very-obvious answer!

Well, duh.
Firefly
was cut off even before its prime, and had so much potential. Only with Joss and the entire cast on board, though.

Though that last season of
Angel
the bloody network cancelled is a very tempting alternative.

It doesn't seem right, does it? Stupid shows thrive and these really good ones get cut off in their prime. Or in the case of Firefly, one is tempted to say, before their prime.

Do I know Space Island One? Have I ever even heard of it?

It was marvellous. Low-key, adult, near-future space research lab in LEO: http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0172058/
Bruno Eyron as Dusan Kashkavian was eye candy, as was Julia Bremerman as "Harry" Eschenbach. Plots and characterisation tops, sets minimal, SPACE had it for one Goddamned season. Never repeated. Ended in a cliffhanger.

Ended in a cliffhanger.

Oh no!

Now I really want to see it.

And I see it's not available on DVD.
