Adventure isn't hanging on a rope off the side of a mountain. Adventure is an attitude that we must apply to the day-to-day obstacles of life: facing new challenges, seizing new opportunities, testing our resources against the unknown and, in the process, discovering our own unique potential. - John Amatt

Hanging on a rope off the side of a mountain is pretty fun too.

So I've heard. I'll take your word for it! I like seeing it. I like reading about it. I like writing about it. Not sure I want to do it.

On the other hand, it does sound like an exciting challenge. I like pushing myself and doing new things. So... not ruling it out.

Yes... resounding in the slightly-cliche but fully apt "They aren't roadblocks -- they're stepping-stones." One can choose to lament that things are not going perfectly, or one can take advantage of what is happening and use it to go in different, unexpected directions, to learn unplanned things, to be more than what the safe path would have made one.

Sorry for the deep thoughts. But, yeah, I'm in that mindset right now. I don't get very anxious about things these days; I just nod and think what my new best course of action will be... till the next unplanned catastrophe comes up.

Total honesty moment: but it can still be bloody annoying!!! [g]

Enough catastrophes. Really.

Life gets complicated.

Adventure does not mean 'misfortune', it means approaching life with a certainly attitude.

Sadly, the misfortunes still happen.

Yes, I know. But the unexpected bumps are almost all I've been having lately, so that's what was on my mind and in my reply....

Life itself is quite an adventure for me, honestly. Every day that nothing horrible happens still holds an exhausting amount of positive challenge as I continually learn how to negotiate my way through a social setting designed, and kept running, almost solely by people whose brains work strikingly differently than mine do. Yeah. Adventure! I do find it fascinating, and that is simple honesty.

The thing about life's adventures is that we usually have to undergo them without much sense of control. And yes, it's fascinating. But better when pain is not involved.
