The Eisner Awards 2008...
Jul. 29th, 2008 10:29 pmIt took me this long to read who won this year's Eisner Awards, always a subject dear to my heart.
But my comics-reading this year has been sporadic and I haven't read a lot of the things that won awards. Which is fine: I'll have a wish-list to search out over the next while. (When I can afford comics again.)
A few comments:
- I'm glad to see Gerard Way's work on the list. I liked Umbrella Academy a lot.
- Delighted to see Ed Brubaker won as best writer. I'd have given him the award for 'best new series' too, though I suppose Joss Whedon deserved to win something.
- Tekkinkinkreet looks interesting, but a quick Google search keeps bringing me links to info about the anime, not the manga.
- Given the nominations, I'd have chosen John Cassaday for best cover artist, though Jae Lee is magnificent too.
- Barry Windsor-Smith! Yes!
