[livejournal.com profile] auriaephiala sent me this article about Stephen Moffatt at SDCC. Damn, I wish I could be there! That being said - though it would wonderful to see and hear these people in real time and not just on YouTube - it doesn't sound as if they're saying anything much we haven't already heard or seen.

Of course the man isn't ready to talk about the stories he'll have in season 5. That's more than a year away. He's a writer, not a fortune teller. He's still thinking about things. Of course he doesn't know exactly what he's going to do yet. He probably has more ideas than he can handle anyway.

Then there's this interesting bit:
Possibly the most exciting thing that was said during the panel was when a fan asked, "Is River Song the Doctor's wife?" Moffat quickly leaned over and pretended to whisper something into Gardner's ear, then nothing. She did however offer this bit of information which was the best part of the whole shebang, "Rose has met other Doctors before, and that she recognized the David Tennant Doctor."
Rose, not River? Ah, the confusions of time travel and time paradoxes! (Not to mention the obfuscations of producers.) Is Julie Gardner staying with the show? I was under the impression that she, too, was leaving. Apparently not.

Poor Moffat, getting grilled by Homeland Security. And the Hollywood folks can't understand why he'd give that all up to work in the U.K.?

But I think that article got Rose/River mixed up. I read another report last night (frantically trying to find it) where Julie had said that with re: to River. And then, asked if Rose would be back, Moffat made a crack about the Doctor successfully getting rid of a clingy girlfriend that even another dimension couldn't keep away.

Thank you! This was fascinating and I wrote my comments on her comments here (http://fajrdrako.livejournal.com/944658.html).

That's a nice Captain Hammer icon!

So much icon love. In fact, I think I regularly need a "corporate tool" icon - might I use it?

It's brilliant, isn't it?

Apparently the icon's by [livejournal.com profile] deep_fishy, and open for general use. I have therefore claimed it for the greater glory of the fnords.

Highly suspicious, you know, this business of being a writer. Must be a cover for something more likely, like international espionage and terrorism. I'm still wondering why the Canadian customs people confiscated John Barrowman's clothes.

But I think that article got Rose/River mixed up.

Seems likely. If only because it makes a lot more sense that way.

asked if Rose would be back, Moffat made a crack about the Doctor successfully getting rid of a clingy girlfriend that even another dimension couldn't keep away.

LOL - how snarky!

If you were Canadian customs, wouldn't you?

Seriously, did they really do that? Did he get them back?

And can they definitively answer: boxers or briefs?

I believe I saw a glimpse of briefs during one of his many many many talk show indiscretions. :-D (And GDL swings free in boxers.)

What could possibly be wrong with his clothes? Or anybody's clothes? Unless they were covered in boll weevils or potato bugs, which I somehow doubt.

I can recall at least one flash of butt. I was so mesmerized by skin that I failed to notice what kind of garment had been covering it.

What could possibly be wrong with his clothes? Or anybody's clothes?

It's a mystery. We may never know.

Hmm, now I think of it...

Yeah. I guess it's just a perk of the job.

did they really do that? Did he get them back?

Eventually, but it took a few days. He was left in Toronto for a few days with nothing to wear. I never did hear why they held his stuff.

And can they definitively answer: boxers or briefs?

Ah, but Customs and Immigration don't answer questions, they only ask them. Like the hard-baked interrogators they are. They'll never tell.

A few days? Surely the dogs could have found drugs right away, and anything else would have been easy to search for as well. Quite unfriendly, IMHO.

Customs officials are not known for friendliness. Or manners. I've seen Customs officers do and say things that wouldn't normally be tolerated in a civilized world. They're bullies, some of them. Or worse.

Yes! I thought of this conversation as soon as I saw that scene - and very stylish black briefs they are, too.

I was wondering re Rose/River myself, but I checked the article just now and it seems to have been updated to River. I assume the reporter mistyped.

Well, good - that makes it a little less perplexing and more likely. An easy slip: all those R-women. Rose, River, Reinette, Romana... do we have a pattern?
