A disappointment this evening: I went with maaseru to hear David Sedaris read at Collected Works. He was starting at 7 p.m., but even before 5:30 there was a line-up that went round the block. Neither she nor I could stand in line, so we went for supper instead.
At home, I did yoga and watched Doctor Who 'DrĂ´le de mort', which is 'The Empty Child' in French. Enjoyed it very much.
I went by there at just after 5 p.m. on my way back from the Parkdale Market and noticed the line was already to the back of the bank (couldn't stop because I had plants in my bike panniers). I was wondering what was going on -- mystery solved.
I have somehow managed to completely miss David Sedaris -- who is he?
David Sedaris (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Sedaris) is an American essayist and humourist. I haven't read or heard his work but he sounds as if he's in the vein of Stuart McLean or Garrison Keillor, only gay.
Why, because he's become too popular? Seems to me we'd have been all right if they'd found an auditorium, or a more sizable place. I think they had no idea what a large crowd would turn up.
