It was a long day, a busy day, a stressful day - my first day back at work. Starting with my inability to log into my own computer. A little freaked by all the work waiting for me. But... that's okay. I can cope. I did cope. And it was nice to see Jennifer and [livejournal.com profile] golden_hinde again.

The Foot held out admirably. I remembered to exercise it every hour or so, and it behaved rather well.

I even had enough energy to go to Costco afterwards, for ice cream. Love their ice cream.

Many congrats! Good luck in settling in ... as well as some more ((hugs)).

Today, I found out what my schedule will be (effective sometime in August). I will be working long hours four days a week, including Saturday, but I do have Sunday off. Whether that means I can catch up to people is still up in the air ... more later on that.

Congrats!

Are you still having to wear the boot or is that finally gone as well?

The Boot is gone. Well, it's parked in my closet, waiting in case I need it - though I'm beginning to believe I won't need it again. I'm going around in regular running shoes. It feels great!

They were good. Two of them have broken their ankles by falling on ice veyr like I did - in fact, it's Gord's crutches I've been using all this time. And Jenn, fifteen years after her fall, can still tell the weather by her ankle with uncanny accuracy. When I fell, lying there on the icy sidewalk, she was the first person I thought of.

Oh wow That must have been really weird. Glad you seem to have survived it okay. Ice cream is always good.

Normality is at least on the horizon.

Ice cream solaces many ills. And tastes good too. And the Costco ice cream is my favourite: really creamy, not too sweet.

Congratulations! I've found that, after a long break, the first day back is the hardest.

There was all that confusion of remembering (or failing to remember) passwords and combinations, and to figure out what happened when I was away so I could make intelligent replies when the public phones to ask simple questions like 'what are the office hours'.

But I need an income again.

Costco has ice cream? Who knew!

I like really creamy and not too sweet, too. I got a cuisinart ice cream maker recently and have been making my own. Strawberry and raspberry from fresh fruit. No sugar, just a little bit of honey. I was thinking I might try plum next. Or not. Or maybe fruit medley. Or banana peanut butter. We'll see what I'm in the mood for next.

Costco has ice cream? Who knew!

In Ottawa, it has the best soft ice cream in town, and incredibly good hot dogs, both of which cost less than anywhere else. They also have pizza and poutine and other such foods, but I don't know what they're like - I'm always too busy eating the hot dogs. Followed by ice cream. Not health food, no.

How wonderful! I find more and more that commercial ice cream is too sweet, and sometimes tastes of chemicals - not bad, but not the smooth taste I want.

Good luck with your ice cream flavour experiments.

Damn: I was just about to do yoga, and now I'm hungry. Well. Snack after yoga!

Yeah. It's a relief. I've a way to go but the important thing is to have the mobility.

And I do remember you saying, more than once, about how wonderful it would be to once again be able to do something like -- well, like anything! without first having to plan out each movement you'd have to make, and keep in mind that you would be severely limited in how much you could transport back to your chosen sitting place afterwards. Yep, I remember it well.

Mobility can never be overrated.

Have you accomplished the elusive and highly technical making a cup of hot tea and carrying it back into the living room task yet?

Date: 2008-07-12 01:57 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] fajrdrako.livejournal.com
Yes, I can make tea now, and carry a cup. Yesterday I made a pot of tea for [livejournal.com profile] commodorified and carried it into the living room with a pitcher of milk. I am mighty!

Costco only has two choices of flavour, vanilla and chocolate. I invariably choose vanilla. Perfect!
