Spawn of the Hub

The young applicant for the Torchwood job was cheeky and insistant, with blue eyes and a familiar wide smile. "I've wanted a job at Torchwood since I was born. My mum worked there eons ago. So did both my dads."

"Dear God," said Director Stapleton, under his breath. "It's the Harkness boy."

"The Harkness-Cooper-Jones boy," corrected the applicant.

"Spitting image of the old battleaxe," muttered one of the team.

"Which one?" asked the boy. "You won't find a better candidate. When I was a toddler, my babysitter was a pterodactyl."

"Explains a lot," said Stapleton, and gave him the job.
