Rescuer

He was the most beautiful man Toshiko had ever seen.

Outlined in bright light in the doorway, he made her think of gods and heroes. A saviour in a greatcoat.

When they talked in the interrogation hall, she was distracted by his friendly smile. How long was it since she had seen anyone smile?

She had trouble breathing, or even concentrating. He was not a lawyer, not military, so how could he offer her freedom? Was this a trick to get more information? Was he one of her captors?

No, he was something else.

He was something called "Torchwood".

...Okay! Spoiler for an episode I have not seen yet, which apparently might involve something unpleasant in Toshiko's past, in which she was being held against her will...? Yes, I am intrigued.

And I don't know how interstitial your little story is, then, of course. Are y ou speculating that this is how Jack recruited her, or do we all know that this is how Jack recruited her? I am intrigued!

I am also honored and lucky to be the one to post first on these three stories, I see! More honored and lucky to be doing that than to be where I am when I am, just now: I left work early because of an illness that got worse as the day went on (almost called off, hoped it would just go away, it did not go away) and have stopped by the union office to nap on the sofa until I feel well enough to drive home, and have decided to go online to assist in my rest and recuperation here. I do feel better; the ginger ale is helping, the crackers are helping, and the fact that I can turn out the lights and there is no radio -- very much helping!

And I have all these nifty stories to read! hee, thank you.

Yes. One of my favourites of series 2.

Here's the image of Jack in the doorway of Tosh's cell, which I was thinking of as I wrote it:

Yes, exactly. It was... a step in her induction into Torchwood. I can tell you details if you want, but they aren't necessary for my drabble to make sense.

We see it happen. We see their whole conversation. Tosh asks Jack if he's a lawyer. He says, "Do I look like a lawyer?"

So sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. Take care!

Wow!

Thank you. That's quite an image.

No, details are not necessary for the story, which was perfect as it was written. Maybe some other time, in some other conversation, eh?

"Do I look like a lawyer?" Ai. Always right to the point!

I'm feeling somewhat better now, after about four and a half hours of lazing around the otherwise-empty union office, mostly searching Las Vegas websites for museum and show information. Found some good art! Including a student of Warhol's! And found that the glass flowers adorning the lobby ceiling in the Bellagio are actually a massive work of art by a named artist. That entire place is a work of art....

The nausea has abated, but I find that I still have bad cramps when I try to stand up. So, I'll slouch out to the car and drive slowly home, then get into bed with my little cats, yes? A plan it is. Talk to you again tomorrow sometime! Keep up with the exercises! Hope the comforting slippers helf somewhat for the achey aftermath.

You'll see it eventually.

Always right to the point!

And always a tease.

Glad to hear you're feeling better!

I'm tired and about to go to bed...

It enhances my appreciation of an episode if I have some conversations about it before I see it. I'm not saying that I want or need to know what will happen in it; I may be saying that I like not to have to step into a room without knowing if the lights will be on or off or what color the walls and floor and ceiling will be... need some advance information in order not to get lost in accumulating the "edges" stuff like this when I do see it for myself.

Today, Saturday, I'm left with very sore muscles -- hard to sit or stand up straight. It's a wonder. I hope it passes soon. At least today I think I can eat something!

Food is good. Why are your muscles sore - do you know?

Mine probably will be: Lynne gave me a bunch of exercises to do today. Sitting exercises. Very cool.
