Title: Leashed
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Characters: Ethan/Giles
Challenge: a sort of inadvertant personal challenge from a friend
Rating: PG-13
Disclaimer: Not mine, no claims, all property of Joss Whedon.
Notes: This was inspired by some drabbles written by the_obscure, who wrote a series of sex-magic Ethan/Giles drabbles. A chance typo in our converations, about leashes, struck my imagination. I meant to write smut, but it didn't quite turn out that way - apologies. Cross-posted to my LJ and to my ij.

Leashed

Runes glowed on the dark leash attaching Ethan's collar to Ripper's wrist, revolving, red and then amber on black leather, and the frigid air hissed.

"No," said Ethan. He was naked, skin amber in the firelight. Shadows moved like scars on his body with the harsh force of his gasps.

"Yes," said Ripper. The room smelled of ice and fire. He staggered, then held the leash more firmly. "Now. Forever."

Ethan shut his eyes, but only for a moment.

"This binds us for all time," said Ripper.

"Do it!" said Ethan.

Ripper's incantation hung on the air.

It was done.

Thank you! It's the first Buffy-related fic of any kind I've written... I'm still trying to get a feel for it.

But I do so love Giles.

So glad you liked it!

It makes a person nervous, to write about characters for the first time.

Giles and Ethan - truly a match made in a demon dimension! I knew you wouldn't resist the lure of fic in this universe for long.

Oh - very nice icon!

truly a match made in a demon dimension!

True with so many things (and people and beings) in Buffy.

I knew you wouldn't resist the lure of fic in this universe for long.

Once again, I feel... sadly predictable.

It was only a matter of time before you started on Ethan/Ripper fiction, I'd say.

Okay... more.

Am I so predictable?

Yeah. Maybe. [g]

I'm thinking about writing Wesley/Giles at the moment.

Really? Intriguing.

Have you run across the various slash pairings...? Angel/Xander is the one I like least; I think there is Wesley/Spike. What a thought!

Now I'm itchy to go look for some slashfic... sigh. Do I have time tonight? Sure, I have time!

Not really. I haven't looked at the fic much for fear of spoilers. I read a bit of [livejournal.com profile] sparklebutch's carefully-selected material. But there's seldom time - I can't even keep up with the Torchwood stuff.

I haven't seen Wesley with Spike. I don't much like Angel/Anyone; love his onscreen romance with Buffy but the character isn't sexy otherwise. Spike/Anyone is hot. (Spike/Anything is hot. Spike alone is hot. Much hotness there with the Spike.)

I love just about anything to do with Spike. It was enough that the character was great; then I found out what a great sense of humor the actor has about doing him, and it all just got even better.

Spoilers are a problem. I just realized how awful the DVD sets are. The synopses for each episode don't even try to be coy! They say it right out there plain! Ack.

Hmm... good stuff? Always ready to be pointed in a good direction, I am.

Much hotness there with the Spike.

Snicker. You're talking Buffy-speak on me.

Me too. He has such great dialogue, and Marsters delivers it with such gusto. So very convincing.

I found out what a great sense of humor the actor has about doing him, and it all just got even better.

Ditto for Captain John.

I just realized how awful the DVD sets are. The synopses for each episode don't even try to be coy! They say it right out there plain! Ack.

Not only that, if you look at the list of titles to click on the episode you want - and get that title page offering you options - it has pictures from the episode, showing heroes and villains and what's coming up. No way around that.

Hmm... good stuff?

I adore [livejournal.com profile] sparklebutch's writing style. Its only flaw is that the individual pieces tend to be very short. But it's clever and intense and sexy and brilliant.

You're talking Buffy-speak on me.

I'm learning.

Well, then! As little as I want this nice summer to come to an end, bring on September! So I can see him in action! hee

Yes, the DVD sets show pictures, too. Talk about instant spoiler. Alas! Wouldn't it be fun if fandom became such an economic force to be reckoned with that DVD manufacturers created the ultimate spoiler-free packaging...? What an idea.

Hmm... good stuff?

it's clever and intense and sexy and brilliant.

Then I need to read some of it. Point me in the right direction!

re talking Buffy-speak: Yes, well, next time we meet you can do your Spike takes for me... find some situation in which it would be fitting for you to say succinctly, "Makes me feel all manly." I dare ya. hee!

Spoiler-free packaging - what a concept!

"Makes me feel all manly." I dare ya. hee!

Interesting challenge.

A concept whose time has come. Surely!

Interesting challenge.

Make it a story challenge. Write one in which a totally unlikely character ends up saying this to someone, or else someone says it in a totally unlikely context/situation. Hm?
