fajrdrako: Ninth Doctor - Christopher Eccleston ([Doctor Who])

After a hiatus, [livejournal.com profile] commodorified, [livejournal.com profile] raynedaze, [livejournal.com profile] iclysdale and [livejournal.com profile] auriaephiala came over this evening, bringing supper. We watched the latest two Doctor Who episodes, "The Unicorn and the Wasp" (which made everyone laugh, a lot, because these are sophisticated readers of Christie and Sayers, if that isn't an oxymoron), and "The Silence in the Library", which scared everyone, because Steven Moffat's writing is like that.

To my great delight, after we'd seen "Silence in the Library", we each had numerous multiple crackpot theories about what was going on, and why, and the identity of River Song. No conclusions - no more than have already been discussed on many LJs and forums already - and many angles.

A British friend pointed out to me the existence of this short story by Saki as possible inspiration for Russell T. Davies and/or Steven Moffat.

The day more or less divided itself into two parts: fannish friends was one part, physiotherapy was other. The physiotherapist agreed that tai chi would be good for me when I can put my weight on The foot. I said I was envying the people on the exercise bikes there; she said I could do that now, and promptly put me on one of them. It felt great. It felt like progress. It felt normal.

I then had a luxurious lunch at the Lone Star in the Byward Market with Catherine, [livejournal.com profile] maaseru, and [livejournal.com profile] maaboroshi - then promptly came home and slept before picking up on my next set of foot exercises.

I guess all that physiotherapy makes a person tired.

Yes, exactly.

It's a thought to conjure with.

Well, it's a brilliant story, and very Saki, but I don't see a direct connection to "Silence in the Library"...

Do you know if there's an easily searchable archive somewhere of the plots/synopses of all the episodes of Doctor Who? I could use Wikipedia, but you have to click on each episode to check it.

I suspect the only connection is in the title. If there.

I use Wikipedia for Doctor Who episodes, at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctor_who_episode_guide

I know there are many other sites, thought - did you try http://www.dwin.org/?
