ETA: I see the current questions shows up, rather than the one I answered. So: the question I was replying to was: Pirate or ninja?

Can't I have both?

Captain Jack Sparrow if it's pirates - though truly, most of my favourite heroes are pirates one way or another.

If it's ninjas, it has to be Elektra.

Definitely pirates. I have no interest whatsoever in ninjas.

So: favourite pirates? Besides Captain Jack Sparrow? I suppose it depends how we define "pirate". A while back I was at a discussion panel on pirates in which we decided that the Doctor in Doctor Who was a pirate, because, after all, he started his career by stealing the TARDIS and taking off in it.

Anne Bonney and Mary Read (sp?).

But Captain Jack Sparrow is at the top of the list. :-)

Oh, yes!

Captain Jack Sparrow is at the top of the list. :-)

Yup. The prototype.

Ditto, and Captain Jack Sparrow for sure! Sexiest pirate I've ever seen. (ok, I admit I haven't seen many!)

Even if you had seen a hundred thousand pirates, who could be sexier than Captain Jack Sparrow?

I just can't imagine it.

I choose Spike. Piratical vampire? Ninja lover? Dunno.
But he's mine, all mine, I tell ya.

I choose Spike too. Not so much ninja or pirate but a category all his own.

Argh, too hard a decision! I want both too.

Both is good. I like both. So many of my heroes are - maybe not really pirates, but pirate-like. Francis Crawford. Captain Jack Harkness. Miles Vorkosigan (but not Aral).

I didn't see that part of the question block before: if you could go back in time and fix your most regrettable decision....

Nah. Too damn deep.

Pirates, of course. But ninjas are also fun. Having just seen Forbidden Kingdom with Jackie Chan and Jet Li, I must say, kung fu and ninjas are delightful just for the self-contained world you find when you stumble upon them.

But I've been a pirate for most of my life. Outlaw! Arrr! Dweller upon the fringe! Roberto Clemente!

(Sports reference. Pittsburgh's pro baseball team is the Pirates. Kind of makes me smile to know that Anders captained the Caprica Buccaneers. The Pirates are also known as the Bucs. Baseball's fun. Remember the Lynx and the Paw-Sox? Energetic young men in tight pants? Sure you remember!)

Caprica Buccaneers - great name!

Yes, pirates are better but ninjas are fun too.
