So frustrating.

A few hours ago I was trying to get something in the kitchen - always a challenge - and my crutch fell over and hit a bowl of salad on the counter, which landed on the floor and broke. I was able to pick up some of the bigger pieces of bowl (because I could reach them) but I can't do anything about the salad. I can't even think of any good ideas. A vacuum cleaner won't work on it even if I could move the vacuum. I can't pick it up with hands or tongs or paper towel because I can't reach it. I can't use mop or broom or dustpan because I can't use two hands. I can't think of anything to do except wait till someone with more limbs or dexterity than I currently have comes by, and then beg them to do it.

Meanwhile the salad sits on the floor, looking depressing.

I shouldn't let it get to me but I hate this helplessness.

If you get really bothered by it I suppose you could sit on the floor to scoop it all up into a bag or something.

I can't sit on the floor because if I do, I've no way to get up. I got caught that way yesterday. I was determined to clean out the bird cage, and managed to do it by kneeling on the floor - I can actually kneel in the new air cast, which I couldn't do with the original hard casts. This was great.

Then I realized that once kneeling, I couldn't get up. You can't just hop on one foot from a kneeling position to standing. Not without levitation.

Took me a while to figure out what to do. I eventually walked on my knees over to an obliging chair where I could hitch my hip up and pushing myself onto the seat. Then I could reach for my crutches.

Undignified, yes, but no one was watching except the budgies.

I might be able to use a little stool I have, though, if I can find a way to get the stool to the kitchen....

Is it really worth the trauma?

Take care of yourself. You have only one you. Undignified lettuce doesn't rate so very high on teh cosmic scale.

You're right. I need to keep my calm and my sense of humour about all this. I should stop fussing and watch another episode of Buffy. That'll help me put things in perspective.

Buffy can help a lot that way. Where have you got to so far? Have you reached
Lovers' Walk
yet?

I have indeed watched "Lover's Walk", and "The Wish", and today I watched "Amends". It made me cry. I was going to watch "Gingerbread" but went out for supper instead. Maybe later; laundry first.

Yup,
Amends
can do that to you.
Lovers' Walk
is one of my favourite S3 episodes - can't imagine why. (That entrance - so funny!) And
Band Candy
is wonderful for Giles and Snyder isn't it?

I'm not so fond of
Gingerbread
, but there's some excellent stuff waiting for you over the horizon.

A real moment of glory for Snyder. And Giles is adorable there - so is Joyce!

I'm not so fond of Gingerbread

Sort of a dumb plot... though liked the dead kids. But thought everyone was incredibly slow to notice that the kids didn't even have names or identities. Made sense (if Joyce and the Sunnydale townsfolk) were all sort of hypnotized but - Giles and Buffy? They weren't hypnotized.

Ah well.

there's some excellent stuff waiting for you over the horizon.

Carrying right on...
