This sort of reminds me of a newspaper article I read at some point in which a politician from some... country somewhere 'round Iran or so, in that area anyway, blamed homosexuals for earthquakes.
They are not only living in a fantasy world, they're upset that everyone else won't join them there.
Don't you know that those horrible gay folks are out there trying to convert the children of good, proper up-standing Christian folk? Surely that counts as hurting them, doesn't it?
Don't bother trying to convince them that people don't just decide to be gay after being exposed to someone else who is. They don't bother letting the facts get in the way of what they "know" to be true.
The AFA is traditionally very fond of declaring victory for no particular reason, and taking credit for things that happen that have nothing to do with AFA boycotts or picketing. They took credit for pushing Eisner out of Disney, for instance. I doubt he even noticed their actions.
My fav is the AFA boycott of Kohls Department Store for daring to NOT use the word "Christmas" in its holiday advertising... Kohls is a Jewish-owned company. ::sigh::

BWAH! That reminds me of a "man on the street" quote from one of the many many times Massachusetts was trying to decide on Sunday sales of liquor.
ANGRY MAN ON TV: YOU SHOULD BE AT MASS! ME TO TV: DUDE, I'M JEWISH! SABBATH'S OVER!
(I'm not, but I was trying to make a point. He didn't hear me anyway.)
The AFA's been around since the 70s and is still having its little boycotts and picketings to this day. It's an elderly fart and his kid, and a lot of money. I suppose when the elderly creep kicks off, his kid will continue their "good works."

Hee.... Well, obviously having a firm grasp on reality isn't their best thing.

I'd like to be surprised --really I would-- or shocked even, but nah. What I don't really understand is why those people would put any energy at all into a strange boycott like that. Don't like the queer lifestyle? Then surely there's some more effective way to express your views?
I noticed in the article that they don't mind if them queers drive Volvos.
I have to agree with teenygozer - I think they're claiming a victory where there is none. There was some coverage of this on dark_christian yesterday debunking some of the claims, but I have seen this pattern before. Ford's profits are down because the cars suck, dude! (And that's sad, they used to be really good - my dad went from the space program to car maintenance, so he knows what he's talking about!)
Well, today I just learned that the same ethnically Japanese guy who's claiming that the US should have nuked the Middle East on 12 September 2001 and that would have solved all their problems (http://crookedtimber.org/2008/03/11/in-the-eea-tactical-nuclear-weapons-were-highly-fitness-enhancing/) was the author of a paper that claimed that Asians couldn't make original contributions to basic sciences (http://www.cloggie.org/wissewords/index.php?entry=/20061107-satoshi-kanazawa.txt). So, I've had my daily quota of stupidly hateful/hatefully stupid and am incapable of mustering any more outrage.
(The really scary thing is that he's employed by the LSE. How did he get past the interview? Hypnosis?)

A little bit goes a long way, doesn't it? You wonder at the degree of... self-sabotage. Or is it just blindness? Or self-hate? Or irrationality with no thought behind it at all?
Faugh. If only people showed some sense - and some awareness that we're all the same in too many ways to let the little differences destroy the kindness and respect we all owe each other.

I find that religion separates me a lot more from some people than whether they are attracted to men or women. I really don't care about the latter. I do care when someone uses their religion as an excuse to spew vitriol of this sort though. If the AFA really cared about families, they wouldn't be trying to destroy families that don't fit their narrow-minded definition.

I am most offended by their appropriation of the word 'family' - but that's old news anyway.
