Living in Space

Once, Jack had lived in a comfortable house in Boshane.

When that home was torn from him, home became sequences of places in time: barracks, ships, lodgings, dorms. Sometimes he lived in palaces, sometimes in slums. On the open road, or in prisons. Different times, difference places, different companions, from the beloved to the frightening.

The best place he had ever lived was bigger on the inside than the outside. It held everything he'd ever wanted.

Now he lived in his chosen space, a Hub of his own conception: his own busy oasis, made into all he needed.

And, he has his own pterodactyl. :)

Of course! It doesn't get better than that.

Every home needs a pterodactyl.

Right. So right! I stand in awe how you can put so much in so few words...

How did I miss this?

The best place he had ever lived was bigger on the inside than the outside. It held everything he'd ever wanted.

:-) Well, I put a smiley face there, but it's also so terribly sad.

I would love to know about all the places Jack's lived, all he's seen. I'd love to hear it all from his own lips to my ears over the course of a quiet night.

Thanks for the insight.

Yes. That's the thing about great happiness: when it's gone, there's a sadness to the memory, but the memory is still one of joy.

I also like to think that Jack hasn't left the TARDIS forever. Just... for the time being.

Yes, when too many years have passed and he needs to disappear again, I hope the Doctor will come for him.

I wonder... how will he take his leave of Torchwood? How do his aging companions let him go, without grievous heartbreak all around? They know his secret; he can't just fake his death.

I hope there will be a warm and compassionate leavetaking. I wonder if we'll get to see it.
