I generally forget to look at the BBCA Captain's Blog, but I saw they'd updated and finally got around to reading it. Haven't finished all of it yet. Enjoyed some good lines from Captain Jack:

Re "Adam": "I never get flowers. I’m considering sending myself some, and pretending I don’t know who they’re from."

Re "Meat": We find out what Jack did to the villains: "We dosed up the men with amnesia pills, and dumped them somewhere out of the way. The others worried that this wasn’t enough of a punishment. I didn’t tell them exactly how many pills I gave the crooks - you want punishment, try going through puberty again, as an adult."

And: "Ah, security. We laugh at the word."

And: "Ianto turned into a fighting, kicking, stun-gun machine, it was very exciting. I must get put in danger more often." Yes, Jack, I liked that, too.

From "To the Last Man": "Alien activity: Thankfully, none. Must be an alien public holiday."

From "Sleeper": "Gwen taken hostage again. I’m beginning to think she’s jinxed. And why am I never taken hostage? I could be a good hostage. I never get any of that Stockholm Syndrome action. And according to Ianto, my bad cop routine needs some work."

From "Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang", Jack's description of Captain John: "He came through the Rift, still as sociopathic as ever. And tried to kill us all. But come on, check out those cheekbones."

And: " Had to spend the day avoiding ourselves, so I sprang for a five-star hotel and we had every spa treatment in the book, including some I made up."

Does anyone know the history of this Blog? Who conceived it and writes it?

Fun, isn't it?

Yes, that spa treatment - ! I like Jack's sense of un.

I like the way this Blog stays (mostly) in character but gets into Jack's wry humour.

The blog is absolutely pitch perfect - I hope whoever's writing it is getting paid enough. I've suggested it should be compulsory reading for all fanfic writers - this is how it's done! One of my favourite ones is actually from the 'Sleeper' entry, where he says that he let "some of the old Jack" through. It's so good to have them keep the darkness with the humour, and the sadness along with the levity, because that's just so Jack.

Yes. The tone is just right. I was thinking the same thing - "too bad more fanfic writers don't get Jack's character quite this acutely." It isn't even always what he says, sometimes it's what he doesn't say - the way he lies obfuscates the truth for the record. But still lets his joie de vivre (and sometimes his despair) creep in.

I am devoted to the Captain's Blog and the interoffice emails. There's always something there that takes the story a little farther, gives the characters a little more color.

There's a comm that puts up all the great BBC stuff we transatlantic types can't get our mitts on: [livejournal.com profile] iantos_desktop. They have "scans" from books, Torchwood training materials from every era (graphic design hilarity ensues), and in a couple of cases some things from civilians' point of view. Great stuff.

Kudos to the team that produces all that: it's witty, inventive, and not just fluff but a considered window into the minds of our Torchwood friends.

A favorite: message from Ianto to Jack, "Dead Man Walking".

Incidentally, I think you could probably do with some R&R yourself. Let me know if you'd like my hands to work their magic, or if you'd just like a massage.

:-D

They are such fun.

Thanks for the rec of [livejournal.com profile] iantos_desktop. I didn't know about it - how'd I miss it? - and it's wonderful: I get to see all those things I missed. That's really appreciated.

Let me know if you'd like my hands to work their magic, or if you'd just like a massage.

It's a wonder they don't both explode into flames on a daily basis, given an invitation like that!
