Nothing is ever lost by courtesy. It is the cheapest of the pleasures; costs nothing and conveys much. It pleases him who gives and him who receives, and thus, like mercy, it is twice blessed. - Erastus Wiman, 1834 - 1904

How true - Erastus was a very wise man (but had a strange name).

So he did. I looked him up on WIkipedia (at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erastus_Wiman) and it turns out he was Canadian, or at least born in Canada - wouldn't you know it, a proponent of courtesy would be Canadian? It must be something in our drinking water.

He worked for the Globe and Mail and then moved to the States. Typical Canadian career.

So glad! I sometimes wonder if I should keep posting them, but then I think: why not? I like to have them to reference when I need or want them.
