Torchwood: Captains revisited...
Jan. 8th, 2008 06:28 pmBecause I am such a happily obsessive fangirl, when I got home tonight I watched the series 2 Torchwood preview showing Captain John Hart again - and saw it much better on my own screen at home, because the one at work distorts audio-visual. I mean the same clip I was talking about this morning. You can see it here or here if you don't mind extreme spoilers of the delicious kind.
And of course I have more comments.
1. I love the way Captain Jack just takes off with the SUV, leaving the others stranded. Delightfully high-handed. We assume he got a hologram message from Captain John on his wristband? Or his wristband picked up a Time Agency presence?
2. I love the way Captain Jack pauses before entering the bar. And later, when they face each other - Jack is breathing heavily, very much the same way he did in certain scenes in "Captain Jack Harkness".
3. I love the close-up on Captain John's eyes just before Jack enters.
4. Why is there no one else in the bar? Not even a bartender? Did Captain John break in after hours? No, wait, there must be someone else there because someone reported the fight to the police and I don't think either Jack or John would have. So. He was probably cowering behind something.
5. They way they're both enjoying the fight so much - it's vicious but it's joyful and sexual and you wonder about their mutual past history. Love their expressions.
6. The fight and its staging really make me think of Firefly. The whole scene - the cowboy angle - but also the glee with which they approach the mutual slugfest.
7. Love the way Gwen mutters, "Drives me crazy," and the way Ianto says, "It's more fun when he's around, though." And the others all agree.

Date: 2008-01-09 12:33 am (UTC)Captain Jack is actually at the bar and that's when he does the 'Did I mention I'm armed' thing and the patrons+ staff skadoodle.
Cue scene.
And oh yeah - what those two must be like in bed...

Date: 2008-01-09 01:12 am (UTC)So - you think Captain John sent it to Captain Jack as a "Here I am, come get me" message? Or is it something of Jack's, with which he tracked down Captain John? Or some other kind of alien tracking device?
And oh yeah - what those two must be like in bed...
Nice, nice thought.
Woo.
Hot.

Date: 2008-01-09 01:27 am (UTC)But then Jack could see him projected from his Vortex Manipulator as well. Either way, Jack has to know who he's going after or he wouldn't tell the crew to buzz off. If it were an unknown or hostile, he'd not try to cut them off. It looks like he knows who is at the bar when he walks up - that little sigh of resignation and "well, here we go."
This will be one very very long week.
