Since I was let go early from work this evening, I went to Hildegarde's, arriving at 11:30 pm. Only Pat, Sandi, Andrea & bunsen_h were there, along with Hildegarde. (Apparently dewline was there earlier but left well before I arrived.) We rang in the New Year and heard, but could not see, the final wave of fireworks on Parliament Hill.
BTW, my birthday present is here - and I was incredibly self-disciplined and didn't open it. *g* No sign of my Christmas package yet - but it's not the only thing that's been delayed, so don't worry. Fingers crossed that it gets here by my birthday....

What you could do is pretend that the birthday present is the Christmas present and vice versa - that gives you the option of opening the birthday present now and the Christmas present when it comes.
I've been looking for frames for my new Malta art. I'm eager to have it on my wall. Meanwhile it's pressed under the glass of a table-top, to straighten it out.
