Timebonds
Alone in the TARDIS, the Doctor sensed his ties to past and present. Humans thought him isolated. How could he be, with Time eternally visible? He and the TARDIS lived in a web of connections, a continuum that was theirs alone. Friends from all of time, he could feel them connecting to his hearts. Family, friends, companions, enemies, Sarah Jane, Martha, Rose, Jack, the Master - yes, the Master. He knew at any point in the timestream whether they were alive. Presence and absence were accidents of the moment.
They were eternally present, and he missed them.

Date: 2007-12-16 01:26 am (UTC)We actually get more with Jack, who lives a much more linear life but knows what is about to happen on Earth. We see the implications for him.
The Doctor? His knowledge of the future juxtaposed with his lack of knowledge of what is about to happen in any given timeline is fascinating. All that wibbly wobbly time stuff and making sense of it. What fun.
