A gorgeous day: sunny and even warm. In mid-November. Delightful.

Today was a day of many duties and errands, and fun stuff too. Breakfast was at Atomic Rooster, whose embryonic website obviously isn't ready yet. This was [livejournal.com profile] maaboroshi's choice, as she'd heard they had good oatmeal. And so they did. But I didn't order it - I make oatmeal rather often for myself for breakfast at home. So I ordered Eggs Florentine, which I don't make for myself at home, and it was delicious, with a thick creamy sauce the like of which I've never had before and hope to try again. Their potatoes were unusual and delicious, cut thin and pan-fried. The service was good, too.

And we all enjoyed the art on the walls, by local artist Judith Savic. The rather minimalist, attractive decor of the restaurant - pale walls, wooden chairs and floor, and the occasional plant - set it off beautifully. "Stormwatch" was the painting closest to our table; I liked it best, though "Ra Rising" was also particularly interesting. They all looked better on the walls than on the website, but then, that's art and music for you - best live and in person.

Then to the Silver Snail for my weekly comics, After Stonewall so [livejournal.com profile] maaseru could badger them for more Donald Strachey novels1, and Staples for Apaplexy cover stock. Then after a spell of housework and writing at home, off to Costco for sheets - I had a look at my bedsheets as I was laundering them yesterday, and thought, "hmm, I could really use a new set". Also got a gorgeous huge white orchid for $13.99. And a few cleaning supplies, with which I did more housework. And researched. And studied Latin a little. And wrote.

Why does housework always seem so attractive when one has writing to do?

1 Besides, it's always a cool bookstore to drop into just to browse. I keep making notes of more mystery authors I want to read.

The food sounds great, especially the potatoes. Were they seasoned? My spouse considers seasoning de rigueur, but then he also has an affinity for restaurants with loud orange walls.

I don't think the potatoes were seasoned, no. But I might be wrong. We're probably going back there tomorrow, so I can tell you for sure!

No, the potatoes are not seasoned, just a little salt, then sliced and fried.
