Much enjoyed. I think this season is picking up.

  1. No Nathan. I missed him. No Angela Petrelli. I missed her, too.

  2. Sylar, Maya and Alejandro were somewhat interesting. I'd love to think Alejandro understood what Sylar said to him.

  3. Speaking of languages, is it possible that Mr. Bennet's power is being able to speak all languages, as necessary? Loved his scene with the man from Odessa. And I always love seeing the Haitian.

  4. Peter goes to Montreal! Yay! He's practically in my neighbourhood. (Give or take a few hundred kilometres.)

  5. Monica seems awfully... juvenile. Helpless. Clueless. Something. I can't feel much enthusiasm for her. Another weak female character. She may not cry as much as Maya, but she looks worried as much as Alejandro. (No, the new characters don't impress me at all!) But I do like Monica's powers, and I liked seeing her do gymnastics for Mohinder. I liked it that he wouldn't inject her, but I despair of his honesty. Wouldn't some kind of subterfuge or deception have been a better idea?

  6. No Elle. I don't know yet what I think of her story, but I'm curious and it was frustrating not to learn more about her.

  7. What's up with Niki/Jessica? What's she planning? Is he plotting against the Company, or against Mohinder? Or does Jessica have one agenda and Niki another? (That would be like in first season.)

  8. I'm hoping Hiro will leave the 17th century soon.

  9. As usual, I like Isaac's art and I hope we get more of that theme, and see more of his comics and paintings.

Mohinder... too stupid for his own good, much as I want to love him. I count the hours until Sylar kill them both either to take their powers or just because he can't stand the whining anymore either. Mr. Bennet is wonderful. I love him. I really do. Even when he's evil. And it was definitely Jessica that Mohinder was talking to, not Niki... don't know what's up with that.

Hiro definitely needs to be part of the main storyline again. It's not that his storyline isn't good at the moment or that it isn't interesting, but I'm growing frustrated with him not being part of the real action.

The fast-forward button on my VCR has been getting a work out this season.

  1. No Nathan = fast-forward

  2. Sylar/Maya/Alejandro's driving/killing/crying spree = fast-forward (view through slitted eyes)

  3. Mr. Bennet/Haitian is it possible that Mr. Bennet's power is being able to speak all languages? Do you mean like a human Babel fish? Now that would be an interesting power to have. Loooove the Haitian. He doesn't even need to speak; just his presence in a scene makes it more compelling.

  4. Peter/Irish chicky = intermittent fast-forward. Like Peter. Chicky makes me crazy. Wish she'd disappear already and Peter would get back into the main story.

  5. Who? Whatever = fast-forward

  6. Again, who? Totally whatever = fast-forward

  7. Jessica/Nicki = intermittent fast-forward. I'm not a big fan of J/N but it seems like this storyline might be going somewhere sooner rather than later. I'm staying hopeful.

  8. Love me the Hiro (and Ando!). I agree, [livejournal.com profile] fajrdrako, I'm having fun with the 17th century scenes (especially the part where the "past" has changed) but I'm anxious for his return to the "present".

  9. I'm so glad to see Isaac's art is still a plot point. I thought the comic book art made the series feel different from other shows.

I'm disappointed in Claire this season. Her storylines aren't helping her, either. I've been fast-forwarding past her, the bitchy cheerleadering captain and Clark Kent.

You fast-forward through scenes that aren't there? Now, that's a trick!

Sylar/Maya/Alejandro's driving/killing/crying spree

Sylar's speech to Alejandro was interesting, but really - this is my least fave theme.

Don't worry, Caitlin's about to be killed off any minute now. I've thought that for weeks now.

Do you mean like a human Babel fish?

Yes. Exactly. Actually, I was thinking "like a human TARDIS" but didn't feel it was dignified to say so. Maybe like a human Univeral Translator.

Elle does not look promising, but Veronica Mars was terrific, so I'm predisposed to enjoy seeing her regardless. But I hope she gets a real story soon. I hope her "Dad" is someone interesting.

I agree about Isaac's art, especially since I love Tim Sale's work, and I loved the theme where what was happening turned up in the unfinsihed comic book before it happened. They haven't entirely dropped that technique but it's fallen to the background. Still, I like the 'series of 8 paintings' and look forward to learning their story.

Any idea how long the current story arc is supposed to be? I remember Tim Kring saying (probably at SDCC) that they weren't intending story arcs to cover a whole season (as last year) but to be shorter, more distinct stores with beginnings, middles, and ends within a season. But I see no signs of the current themes coming to a climax any time soon.

I'm disappointed in Claire this season.

Me too. She's gone from being a savvy heroine rising to the occasion as needed, to being a sulky teenager. And West is bland. Way too bland.

It's difficult. On the one hand, injecting Monica would've been wrong. On the other, Bennet is right. Mohinder has made his situation more unstable and jeopardized them all. I would like to know what Bennet's plan to bring down the Company is. Why does he need Mohinder beyond locating the paintings? Why did Bennet need the paintings before he found out about the one predicting his death.

I still don't think Bennet has any inate power, although he could temporarily acquire one at some point. If he had any natural power, the Company would have logically screened him, discovered it, and allocated him differently.

Re: Kensei, according to spoilers, he is the rumored immortal character we've been hearing about, and his present-day name is Adam Monroe, as in the guy Midas Bob fears.

Re: Monica, I'd love for Nana to find that folder of info Bob gave her. Then, Nana takes out an old chest or box, revealing a 20 to 25 year old version of the same file, and the narrative insues. I mean I cam't believe Bob doesn't know Monica is related to Micah and Nana, and they're just keeping her and Niki apart for plot reasons, not because it makes sense.

From interviews I've seen, Volume Two will wrap up in ep. 11. Whether we get all of Volume Three will depeend on the Writers' Strike. See http://www.variety.com for the latest news on that. Heroes: Origins has already been put on hold. I think many of the story problems this year are due to the strike deadline rush. See director Greg Beeman's latest blog entry for perspective:

Speaking of languages, is it possible that Mr. Bennet's power is being able to speak all languages, as necessary?

From a Q&A with show writers...

"I've been watching Bennett for a while, wondering if he has an unmentioned power. The guy sure does seem to know languages, especially of the more complex kind. Japanese and Ukranian are nothing to laugh at. Is it possible that Bennett has a power involving linguistics?"

Nope. He's just smart and well educated. That's no power. That's sheer determination, friends.
