Does anyone here have any good ideas for me for a Halloween costume? I'm going to a party on the 27th and I'd really like to have a clever costume... But I can't, so far, think of anything clever.

Do you have at least minimal sewing skills? If so, may I suggest something like this?

It requires black pants, black shoes, black sox, 3 cheap black mock-turtles (mine were from Walmart), 2 pairs of gloves (I already had these), some poly fiberfill, and a few yards of fishing line.

A few years back, I took a similar design and matched it up with a sari and went as Vishnu.

(After all, what else do you do with an extra sari and a trident?)

Oh, how cool!

Uh... can't think of a thing. Neptune on vacation?

Love it!

I do have sewing skills, and a sewing machine, and material, and access to all sorts of useful things from the wardrobe/sewing rooms at the theatre, but... do I have the time to put it together?

I like the look, anyway!

I can't help you with that one, I'm afraid, but IIRC it only took one evening, and I found it easier to hand-sew the "arms" on the body than to wrestled them into position on a sewing machine.

I can imagine - and the effect worked out well.

A one night stand.

Put a cardboard box around yourself, and put a lampshade on your head. Decorate as you so desire to make yourself 'sexual' LOL.

Coworker suggested that one to me.

Cute. Very cute. I love costumes that are visual puns like that.

Sounds a little uncomfortable, though.

How about going as a voodoo doll? Your clothing can be almost anything you want it to be. Use a pale or greyish foundation on your face, neck and hands. With an eyeliner pencil, draw seams and stitches at your wrists and around your neck. Put smudges under your eyes for a "hollow" look. Wear beads/necklaces with a "gris-gris" feel to them. It's a quick and easy but interesting costume.

That's a good one!

Yes, definitely under consideration.
