A month ago I went to my doctor and discovered that I'd gained weight and that my blood pressure was at 152/92. The doctor gave me stronger pills.

I had my follow-up check-up today and I'm thrilled to see my blood pressure read as 118/72.

I will now officially stop panicking.

I'm also pleased to discover I seem to be able to drink real tea again without disastrous effects/pain. I'm beginning to suspect that, rather than a caffeine intolerance, I had some sort of chronic infection, and that the stuff I had to drink before the endoscopy basically washed it out.

Great! Life without tea is ... difficult.

Indeed; but life with tea (or normal coffee with caffeine in it) when it does alarming things to your digestive system is difficult, too. I had been getting quite worried that there was something seriously wrong with me.

It's weird when we feel betrayed by 'normal' foods. For years (as I think we discussed) I couldn't tolerate caffeine. Now I seem to have no problem with it. It's much more convenient - but does it make any sense? Not to me!

YES! Happy dance!

Of course I'm still going to do exercises and lost weight and meet our challenge, right?

But. Blood pressure no longer a pressing worry. Yay!

Thank heavens! That's great news. Now it's more of a steady improvement, not a hideous worry.

Yes. Life is quite full of enough things to worry about.

*hugs back* Yes - for once, the pills worked, the diet-and-exercise thing worked, and I'm feeling good about it.

Thank you! It's nice to have good medical news instead of bad medical news, isn't it? Sometimes it feels as if the only things that can happen with one's body are bad.... Like, deterioration. But it ain't necessarily so.

Very glad to hear this. The bigger question: do you feel any differently, now? Since I've started to cut out soy-laced stuff, and sugar, I've not only lost some weight but gotten my b.p. down a bit as well. And I can indeed feel the difference. So, hope you can, too! Again -- good for you!

I'm not sure if I feel better or not - certainly a lot of the things I thought of as blood pressure-related aren't happening. But I've been suffering heartburn and I thought that was a blood-pressure thing. I guess I was wrong - ! The allergy problems over the last few weeks have thrown me off, too, but on the whole I feel good.
