A traffic accident..

On Thursday, I was in a car accident, for the first time in my life.
It wasn't a big one. No one was hurt.

The car is named Grace. She's a wonderful vehicle; it was terrible to see her damaged. Here, for you to admire, is a picture of the damage. She could still be driven, though bits kept falling off and out and the side panel over the left wheel tended to flap in the wind at speeds over about 20 mph.
The car in front of us was driven by a woman named Pam. It was her birthday and her first day in Ottawa - she was from Alberta. What a way to be welcomed to Ottawa!
The van in front of her had even less damage, thank goodness.
Since we were unhurt, the combination of alarm at the impact and relief at being okay made me a little euphoric.

Date: 2007-09-02 09:31 pm (UTC)The guy I hit was heading to his daughter's recital. I was more concerned about him making it in time than all the $$$ it would cost me to repair my car.
It was the first time I hit someone. I've been in accidents before where the driver hit someone or was hit (all with my mom driving... hmmm, pattern). I did once back into a pole, but it wasn't my car, and... well, it was a pole. And I hadn't been driving for long.
Considering how often we drive in Michigan, I think my record is amazing.

Date: 2007-09-03 01:10 am (UTC)Looks like there might be some frame damage and from the angle of the hit, there is significant risk to the engine block being damaged. (probably not extensively as it was drivable, but even a minor crack can create issues)
Good luck to your friend!
