Computers: can't live without 'em, can't get 'em to work...
My computer is out of commission today due to a small but vicious war going on between WIndows and my H drive. Don't ask me to explain the problem; I can't. So I spent hours online today with my dear and good friend Sandi, who gave me lots of moral support and careful instructions, and in turns out to take a Very Long Time for my computer to do what it needs to do. (Hoping it won't fail me again in the end.)
So I'm at

I'm hoping to have my computer working again tomorrow. Really.
Now, back to Joss and Nathan.

Date: 2007-08-26 01:38 pm (UTC)I also have technical difficulties; I've recently bought a new computer and a new mini notebook; on Friday someone has build a small network and a connection to the internet. Then I noticed that the modem is much to hot - like an oven. Now I'm thinking the whole weekend about the damned modem and have no peace.

Date: 2007-08-27 02:49 am (UTC)My problem doesn't seem to be a bad one, just an annoying one. Or at least... I don't really know if it's significant or not. I hope it doesn't become worse. I can work around it. It annoys me that I need to.
Yeah, fingers crossed.

Date: 2007-08-28 06:04 am (UTC)You will find the following article (http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut001/pubs/vista_cost.html) to be very bad news indeed ... which could be Good News for Linux, if it could get its act together and avoid pissing off its user base by tactics such as requiring every device driver to make its source code publicly available (which is what requiring the [Greater?] GPL generally means).

I'm just going to stop worrying about what my computer is or isn't doing. It will basically work, so I don't need to sweat the details. Right? I have a problem; I can work around it, and I'm doing so.
