I Believe
"Do you believe in God, Jack?" Gwen asked, perching on the corner of his desk. It was a typical Gwen question. Some people found her annoying. Jack didn't.
"No," said Jack. "No one did, where I come from." He didn't bother to explain where that was.
"So what do you do, then, when other people pray? Is there something which inspires you? Is there anything outside of yourself that you have faith in?"
He smiled in a certain way he had, a half smile, sad and reflective. "There is someone I believe in," he said. "Never doubted him. Never will."
