Now, this is ridiculous. I object. This quiz zeroed in on my original major, fair enough, but not the field I switched to - not the field I feel passionate about - which turns out not to even be on their listing. History! Where is history? The foundation of every other art or science. The study of human development itself. I got the quiz from [livejournal.com profile] vands88.

You scored as Journalism, You are an aspiring journalist, and you should major in journalism! Like me, you are passionate about writing and expressing yourself, and you want the world to understand your beliefs through writing.

Well, I'd heard it said that journalism is history's first draft discipline, or something to that effect. It's close.

About as close as you can get, I suppose. It's just more or less in the wrong dimension - the surface of the water when I want to study the whole depths down to the ocean bed.

Not a felicitious metaphor, since I'm not into underwater studies....

A fair argument, anyway...

...as bad a metaphor as you consider it.

Lame but effective.

I agree, they're definitely missing History. I mean, really. I'd expect that history would be more of a major in most colleges than journalism. Though maybe I'm wrong.

I'll have to get biology, won't I? ;-p

Apparently, the quiz didn't think so!

Very true. Of course, I tend to do them for the amusement value, so I suppose it's not entirely a bad thing. :-)

It's why they're fun - sometimes they make you reassert your sense of reality!

I have to admit -- writing that little rant about what I actually like in biology did make me think about it and get excited about it all over again. So maybe another positive to the quiz that's so wrong!

Yes, and I could so easily go on about how and why I love history so much.

huge favor to ask

Hello I know you don't know me, but I have a favor to ask of you. I am trying to get the pw or the abduction club in order to download it and have not gotten it. I really want to see it and was wondering if you had received it yet. I am sorry if this is wrong of me to ask and just ignore me if you don't want to give me any info. Thanks.

No, I don't have it yet. Pity.

I am a Maths student...

Hmm - not exactly spot on though at least maths wasn't at the bottom of your list. It practically put us in the same journalism class!

Interesting. I got Linguistics (which is my M.Sc. area) but actually my answers related to my passion for Archaeology.

I expect it was the tiebreaker: I dithered over Languages and Mankind.

Well - at least it's close!

I love all those things too. So I suppose the quiz picked journalism as a sort of default.

Heh. Everything fascinates me. I got up to question twenty--answering honestly--and looked back to see that I'd marked everything "agree". So I continued on, until all were marked "agree".

Then it asked me to choose just one of fourteen, and I couldn't do it.

Maybe that's why I don't have a career.

LOL. Well, at least you must be well-rounded. A Renaissance person!

Maybe you should work on focus?

Or find a role for a real generalist? I've always thought that was an incredibly valuable trait, if only one could find the niche for it.

If I had the extra degrees, I'd be applying to think tanks all over.

The good thing is, I've never had to discard a story idea simply because I wasn't interested in doing the research.

Me neither. My proportion of research to actual writing is rather high.

Just like [livejournal.com profile] fajrdrako, I was originally a history major, even if I wound up switching to Computer Science later. And, just like History, Computer Science is not on the list. Sigh ... talk about myopia. :-/

Well, at least you do have an interest in linguistics - as I do too!

Computer science really should be on the list.

Why, I'm a shy, delicate wallflower.

...On a slightly more serious note... I do hate when I don't write, or when I don't write a certain way.

On the other hand, I got a higher score on math than philosophy and anthropology, so something's generally wrong with the world.

Indeed. Me too.

I do hate when I don't write, or when I don't write a certain way.

So do I. Wish it were more controllable.
