Tantalus

Sex with Suzie was a hard-edged game somewhere between pleasure and punishment. The first time they did it she asked, "Is that all you've got?" Making it a contest between adversaries.

She was as eager as Owen was, but refused to admit it. During the workday, or out on fieldwork, he'd say, "Now!" and they'd find a private place and a moment - or sometimes fail to find either, living for an hour or afternoon or a day in urgent mutual need.

"I only shag you," she told him, "because I can't have Jack."

"Me too," he said, with a blistering smile.

I was playing on the ambiguities of Suzie as we've seen her - I find it difficult to guess whether she was always self-absorbed and manipulative (not to mention dishonest), or if she was a decent person who became twisted by use of the glove, as Jack seems to believe.

Yes, trusting Jack sounds like a good rule of thumb. The Doctor trusted Jack (after their initial meeting), so I can do no less!
