fajrdrako: (Veronica Mars)

I watched the last three episodes of season 3 of Veronica Mars and if I don't comment on them now, I'll forget what I wanted to say and never say it.

Such a great show. I am uncertain whether any of the possibilities for its return still exist - a sequel, a TV-movie, whatever? It's yet another show that got far less attention than it deserved, which consistently excelled - and you know, though there are some stories and episodes I like better than others, there isn't one that I disliked. In three seasons.

Comments on I Know What You'll Do Next Summer:
  1. It was fun to see Veronica pass her PI exams, and crow about it, and the nice little interplay between her and Keith about marks. Veronica can be a bit of a brat sometimes, but she's a brat with charm.

  2. The plot fooled me this time: I really thought (as Veronica did) that Apollo was a fake. It was nice to learn we were wrong, at the end.

  3. The return of Dick's father was anticlimactic - I didn't really understand why he decided to turn himself in. Most of that story was unstated, and a set-up for Dick's story, which I was really glad to see - about time we got a closer look at Dick.

  4. Logan, Logan, Logan. So wrong for Parker, so right for Veronica. Piz and Parker should get together. Still, Piz had some good lines.
    Piz: Uh-oh.
    Veronica: What?
Piz: Dad likes you. Kiss of death?

  5. The Mac/Max romance doesn't do much for me on any terms. I think he's a pig. It was am using plotwise, at least at first, but doesn't have the level of angst or drama that it needs to be interesting.

Weevils Wobble But They Don't Go Down:
  1. I am always delighted to get a Weevil story, but I'm beginning to see too much of a pattern: that Weevil, because of his background, is unjustly accused of something and gets Veronica to help him. I'm glad to see Weevil doing well but he is still way too subdued. Maybe he should have an affair with Mac. He just seems so ... emasculated, compared to what he was in season one. So put upon: a bad knee, compenastion problems, being framed... He's become so middle class.

  2. I'd wondered why people were talking about Logan being violent. Now I know! Go, Logan!

... No, really, I'm a pacifist, don't take this as a vote for violence. But. Logan's heroic defense of Veronica's honour delights me. His sense out outrage and justice. Logan is terrific and Veronica is blind.

  3. Loved the sense of conspiracy in this one. The conspirator's belief that they could buy Veronica off. (Hah!)

  4. I liked the radio show, Vinnie vs. Keith. Poor Keith! At the same time, I don't like Keith as sheriff, I'd much rather have Keith be a private eye. So I don't even want him to win.

  5. I love it that the Fitzpatricks are back (whether they're backing Vinnie or not) and that Kendall Casablancas was mentioned. I've been expecting her to turn up rich all season.

  6. Compared to Logan, Piz is colossally uninteresting. I'd rather see Veronica dating Weevil.

  7. Dick is actually becoming interesting.

The Bitch is Back:
  1. So... the Castle will rue the day they took on Veronica. I loved it that things tie right back to the Kane family, and that Veronica was about to trump Jake Kane with Mac's illegal computer magic.

  2. When Veronica broke into the house, she must have known it was the Kane's place. How... spooky. How deja-vu.

  3. Jake Kane has deteriorated almost as badly as Dick Casablancas Sr. I almost expected to see Kendall sitting in his lap.

  4. I liked Keith Mars reactions to Veronica's lawbreaking. I wished Veronica would tell him all about it. I like this as a solution to my dilemma: that I don't want Keith to be sheriff. If he loses the election because he illegally hid the evidence against Veronica, well, then, he has made a sacrifice for her sake and his loss is okay.

  5. Am I really clueless here - who is the Bitch of the title?

  6. Nice to wee Wallace play such an active role. Nice to see a plot with big stakes, not just little or personal ones.

  7. I loved Veronica's line to poor hapless Dick: "After all these years, do you not instinctively fear me?"

So that's it? No closure? No resolution of Veronica with Logan - not even another nice hot "I hate you but I can't keep my hands off you" kiss? We don't know whether Keith will win the election, we don't know what has happened to Duncan Kane and his baby, or Kendall Casablancas, or Wallace's mum. On the plus side, Veronica will be off to the FBI.

Overview: Season 1 was best, with its cast of characters, its introduction of Veronica and Logan, it's nice story arc of "Who Killed Lily Kane". It suffered only from too much High School material, but wasn't annoying about it. Season 3 was fun, and clever, but comparatively lacked focus - especially when it died prematurely.

All in all, a wonderful series, and I'll miss it, and I do hope it comes back in some form.

And in my imagination, I can do whatever I want to get Logan and Veronica together and keep them in their entertaining dance of love, lust, anger and misunderstandings.
