I got the link to this funny LJ entry by judge_death from [livejournal.com profile] jwaneeta - about the new Doctor Who casting. This was the part I thought funniest:
Gay Agenda

The devasted communities have also expressed anger at comments by the Bishop of Belinda Carlisle, who has claimed that Catherine Tate is God's punishment on permissive fans, whose casual acceptance of gay characters and production of slash fiction featuring the Doctor and the Master is "symptomatic of a deep-rooted moral degradation".

Camilla Parker-Bowles, the Duchess of Cornwall, yesterday commented that she could identify with Catherine Tate as she found it difficult to live up to the public's affection for the Prince's previous companion. Clarence House later issued a statement admitting that the comment had been in poor taste given the current suffering of the British people.

...wha th fah!!! Martha Jones is GONE?????

...No. Though the exact situation isn't entirely clear. Martha leaves, or appears to leave, the Doctor at the end of the last episode of series 3. But she is going to be in three episodes of Torchwood series 2 (yay!) and some epiosdes of Doctor Who series 4. I'm unsure how many. The Doctor's companion in all of series 4 will be Donna Noble, played by Catherine Tate, as in the Christmas special last year, "The Runaway Bride". (Groan. Okay, maybe she'll improve when we get to know her better. And if you believe that, I can offer you an oasis on the moon.....)

That's except for the Christmas special coming up next Christmas, in which the companion will be neither Martha nor Donna, but Astrid, whom we've never seen before, played by Kyle Minogue.

Clear as mud?

Kyle Minogue? She was cute in an episode of the Vicar of Dibley, but she was just playing herself. I'm not sure she could carry an entire episode.

Really, I wish Doctor Who would be using its pulling power to get better actors (i.e. Derek Jacobi) on it, rather than celebrities.

Oh dear -- I just had a horrible thought. What about Sean Bean in a Dr. Who episode set in the early 19th century?

Well - we'll find out, won't we?

I agree. Wouldn't it be great to see Sir Ian McKellen on the show?

What, the TARDIS lands in the Iberian peninsula when Sharpe is there? You wouldn't get any argument from me on that one!

Kylie isn't too bad an actress (I have seen worse)... After all she was Charlene on Neighbours many, many years ago...

They can't really be thinking about bringing Donna Noble back, can they?

Seems to me that Doctor Who has a fairly high standard of acting, especially considering the over-the-top nature of some of the material.

I wouldn't have thought so - but either they're doing it, or they're doing a good job of pretending.

Kylie is actually pretty good... I shouldn't diss her. She had many years of actor training when she was a kid and teenager. Then was on quite a few Australian TV shows...

I like the look of the pictures, which are actually helping to pull me out of the funk I was in because of "The Last of the Time Lords".

Here in Canada, they just showed "Gridlock" on Monday - it should have been a week earlier but they pre-empted it for a soccer game.

I think you'll like "Gridlock" - it was one of my favourites.
