The Little Planet

Asteroid B612 looked unimpressive from space. Walking its surface, Jack saw weeds, a rose, and a fair-haired boy who called himself a Prince. Since Jack claimed to be a Captain, he couldn't criticize anyone else's choice of title.

The young Prince proudly showed Jack his flower. "The loveliest thing on my planet."

"I loved a Rose once," said Jack. "I lost her."

The Prince squeezed his hand. "You can share mine."

"I can't stay. I'm looking for her, and the Doctor."

"How wonderful for you, to have both a Doctor and a Rose to search for."

"I'm lucky," agreed Jack.

That's adorable! An extraordinarily imaginative crossover, too!

Big proud smile. I'm so glad you liked it. It was the combination of outer space and a 'rose' that made me want to do it.

I haven't been reading most of these - don't have the background.

But I tried this one, am delighted that I did, it's a delightful vignette.

Thanks.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it, even without the background. It seemed to me that the spirit was right - both Captain Jack and the Little Prince wear large coats, and both love someone/something named Rose. Thanks for commenting!

I'm delighted that you liked it. You say the nicest things! I love "Le Petit Prince" too. And I have a copy of the Latin version, Regulus - I love it!

well you create these little gems, crossovers that I would never dream of and they work...so yeah =) haha yeah I only read it in French. Actually you should definitely read Sartre's Les Jeux Sont Faites, I bet you would love that! Favourite french book ever!

"Les Jeux Sont Faites", okay, I'll read it - hmm, will I be inspired to do a crossover with Captain Jack?

It has a hot French Revolution rebel in it, so yeah I'm thinking you can slash that to kingdom come. =) haha

Oooh - sounds good to me! I once co-wrote a rather sex-heavy French Revolution AU "Professionals" novel, but it was never finished. It would be fun to go back to that some day.

The Little Prince has been on my "To Read" list for a while, now. Your xover motivated me to get it from the library. I'll be reading it tomorrow when I have time to enjoy it in one sitting.

I'm so glad I inspired you to read "The Little Prince". It's a delightful story.... Mind you, I haven't actually read it for decades, and most of what I actually clearly remembered made it into the drabble. (Not counting the snake that swallowed an elephant.) The part that really has always stuck in my mind is "what is essential is invisible to the eye". And the whole point about the rose.

I finished reading it; Every DW fan should. I'm sure the Doctor has had multiple copies of the book in his library for centuries. It's one of a few human stories he could relate to on an assortment of levels.

Wonderful, isn't it? Yes, I am sure the Doctor has copies... in many languages. As an example of human feelings and ideas.
