1. Simone. Don't much like it, never use it.
2. 37.
3. Single. And I object to the alternative being "taken". What are we, seats at the theatre?!
4. Impossible to identify just one. The English Patient, The Girl on the Bridge, Master and Commander, The Lord of the Rings films...
5. Of the moment? Jeffrey Foucault's Train to Jackson. Because of [livejournal.com profile] keerawa's brilliant DS fanvid to it - the bottom vid on this page (http://keerawa.slashcity.org/).
6. I like a whole lot of stuff. And I hate these "favourites" questions.
7. Clean sheets. Dirty minds. Heh.
8. None yet. I have considered having two holes pierced in one ear.
9. I'd say we do!
10. I think tolerance is under-rated. And kindness.
11. I never used to understand what was meant by this question. 50 ml of water in a 100 ml glass - the quantity's the same whether you call it half-full or half-empty. Insanely literal-minded - that's what science degrees do to you. *g* I did eventually get it when I realised that I can on occasion be depressingly negative about things and will focus exclusively on what's missing rather than what's there. Oh yes.
12. Probably not. I admire honesty between friends.
13. It would probably be the cannons outside St John's. :D
14. Binging on chocolate/chocolate biscuits/ice cream. Next question!
15. I have silver-painted toenails.
16. Heh. Better health, that's one. A job I really loved. And enough money to be comfortable and be able to splurge a little without feeling guilty.
17. We could, if either of us had the airfare handy. See the previous question!
18. I loved Scotland because people were genuinely polite. Italy's good too.
19. I don't know! Okay, lack of self-confidence, maybe.
20. Without a doubt.
21. The problem was that I was good across the board. Yes, it was a problem because it meant I ended up choosing sciences because that's what the bright kids chose (and what my older brother had chosen), and in retrospect I'd probably have been happier doing archaeology.
22. Nope, not going there. You do it for me.
23. No. Apart from giving you a better paid job so you could hop on a plane more often...
24. It varies tremendously. Thick pyjamas (and socks!) in winter and nothing at all at the moment.
25. Both. But not at the same time.
26. Alcohol. In moderation. Wine, especially a mellow fruity red with a good meal. Mulled wine at Christmas. Iced Limoncello in summer.
27. Go to Venice? Or more likely, watch television. LOL.
28. Since you ask so nicely, yes.

Whew! I never do these. What on earth's got into me?

Favorite Band/Artist: The Beatles

I almost said The Beatles! They are so wonderful, and I never get tired of them.

No piercings at the moment but that will change (they kept falling out!)

My earrings kept falling out, that's one reason I stopped wearing them.

I like your philosophy of life.

Re your femur: Ouch!!

Lots of people have chocolate as a weakness.

We would go find Jack Harkness and molest him together.

I think that would be a magnificent idea.

Re 28: Hee! Good answer!

McLeod

I've always liked that name, and all the more so when it got fannish connotations for me, with Duncan McLeod of the Clan McLeod.

Do the dead and/or fictional count?

Count whatever you like, I'm flexible! Do budgies count? (They're singing so nicely just now.)

Life sucks, but the alternative's no better.

You beacon of cheer, you.

Discovering we both love the same highly obscure 12C hunk.

A great moment! and a great hunk, too.

I was in St Petersburg during the 1991 Russian coup.

Cool! What was it like? The atmosphere?

A job. A holiday. A publisher.

I want two out of those three.

None that exist as states nowadays: MonfrĂ /Monferrato; Outremer; entirely fictionally, Ruritania.

I considered saying Outremer, or Italy, but I didn't since it seemed easier to interpret the question as meaning 'present day'.

If you could change anything about me, would you? - Where you live. It's too far away!

Oh for a good teleporting Vortex Manipulator in working order!

black Chinese dragon (called Bruce) tattoo on left shoulder, vaguely Celtic black swirly thing on lower right ribs

Woo, those sound wonderful! I love Pictish designs. And, of course, dragons.

Is the bottle half-full or half-empty? There is no spoon.

Good answer!

What is your favorite memory of us? Beowulf vs. Godzilla

Great answer! LOL!

What is your favorite guilty pleasure? Regency romance novels

I love them too, but I don't feel guilty about it.

I can read a normal sized paperback page in less than 30 seconds - I've been timed.

That's a wonderful talent! I usually estimate my reading speed as one minute per page, but of course it varies with the print size. I know I read much more slowly than I used to; I'm not sure why.

A parachute jump

Eeeee! I'm scared of heights! But the idea is sort of exciting.

What's your philosophy on life?: What goes around comes around

Good one!

I once broke the world record for the longest paper chain - each link was a raffle ticket for charity

Congratulations! How long was it?

I like your wishes!

Florence

Definitely a major contender! It's so beautiful.

Go bungee Jumping or bungee swinging

And me with a fear of heights! But a challenge is good for me....

Elizabeth and Margaret. Choose either or both.

My first and second names, in that order. Neat.

60 (really!)

60 is good. I'm getting close to 60 - well, soon.

"She Belongs to Me". Bob Dylan doesn't know it, but he wrote it about miapatrick

Is there a story there?

Intend to get Pictish "spectacle sign" tattoo.

I love that design.

Everything is always more complicated than it looks.

So very true. Everyone, too.

Cheesey musicals.

Oh, yes, yes, me too!

Or do you want more recent ones?

The timeline is irrelevant, but who is Imogene Stubbs?

Get my book published.

Me too, but I have to finish writing it first.

Laziness.

I struggle with that one too.

I've always liked that name, and all the more so when it got fannish connotations for me, with Duncan McLeod of the Clan McLeod.

I adopted it by statutory declaration before I got my first passport, since (due to my arriving a month early) my parents forgot to give me it at the usual time. It was my grandfather's middle name, having been the maiden name of one of my great-great-great-grandmothers. I am even fonder of it now, because it was one of or 2 the McLeod uncles who were commissioned by Pattie in the Loyalist militia in the Carolinas.

Count whatever you like, I'm flexible! Do budgies count? (They're singing so nicely just now.)

In which case, I'm over-booked, and your heart is truly taken by those adorable tiny bundles of fluff and cheeping! (Of course budgies count!)

You beacon of cheer, you.

I'm bitter, twisted and cynical. Long-term unemployment and professional disappointment does that.

A great moment! and a great hunk, too.

I have to explain him to most people. So wonderful to find someone else who recognises him!

Another shared magic moment would be hearing the new little guys singing and cheeping with Logan over the phone. After so much avian heartbreak, to have those wee sweeties trilling away in the background… Priceless.

Cool! What was it like? The atmosphere?

Tense. Waking up to hear light music on the radio, and the lady I was staying with saying "There's been a coup." Watching from the window in case we saw tanks coming up from Pskov at the end of the road. (Luckily, the Pskov garrison stayed loyal and didn't enter the city.) Listening to the BBC World Service with the volume very, very soft. Marina was great at keeping a cool head: her father had been executed in 1938, and she'd survived the wartime Blockade, while her brother had starved to death and the poodle had been eaten. We celebrated when it was all over, drinking cognac in the rain in the Square of the Arts! I went to Moscow the following day: 3 men had been killed there.

Alexandra

I like that one.

LA Confidential is magnificent

Yes, I agree!

Torchwood squee!

Oooh yes! So squeeworthy, too.

To meet Joss Whedon, write a best selling novel, move the coast so I could live by the sea without selling my flat.

I'd like all of those too, except that they'd have to move the coast a very, very long way, in my case. Maybe I could just lift up my flat and plop it down somewhere near Halifax?

Which country is your spiritual home? Italy

That would be my second choice.

Stalk John Barrowman - he would love it as much as we would

We'd be really good at it, too!

I wouldn't call it a memory as such...but realising that I had someone already on my f'list when I fell in love with Doctor Who, and that that someone had intelligent comments and observations (along with squeeing at the pretty!)

How nicely flattering - and yes, I can generally be counted on for a good fangirlish squee.

To sing with John Barrowman

Oooh - wouldn't that be wonderful?

possibly make you live in Liverpool too so we could meet!

That would be fun - I like Liverpool! Only ever visited once, but liked it.

and give them a sob-story about your impending doom to get hugs and kisses and autographs!

Wonderful plan. I like it.
