Yesterday's picnic...

fajrdrakoYesterday we had the Ottawa Science Fiction Society annual barbecue and picnic.
The turn-out was good, including some people from Montreal, and some others I haven't seen in ages. I had a bunch of people to talk about comics with - that's so rare - Eric and StarWolf and Fingers and Janet and Ronn. It was great fun. We talked about various artists (like Paul Gulacy and Bernie Wrightson), the Marvel Civil War and the death of Captain America, the sad history of Superman Returns, Suicide Girls, 52, and the Fantastic Four movie. 'Wolf quite rightly trashed the plot, and complained that the Fantastic Four were secondary guest-stars in their own movie. He has a point, though I liked its spirit.
We also talked about what's going on in our lives, and the difficulty of getting an apartment in Toronto, and where to buy good local produce around Ottawa.
I also had a banana daiquiri, brought by Glenn, and most delicious. Making it the second time I've had alcohol in a month, since I made my own banana daiquiri a couple of weeks ago. I suppose daiquiris come in various other flavours too?
Sadly, halfway through the afternoon, my eyes started to itch and swell and run and I felt exhausted. Beulah had an emergency antihistamine to give me, but I really should have taken it a few hours earlier -had I but known. I wonder what I was reacting to?
So I went home, and crashed.
