I have been browsing the motivator postings at Television Without Pity, which I hadn't done for a long time, and I saw that some wonderful fans have got going on "Utopia" motivators and other related themes. I love it. Examples:
From Torchwood and Doctor Who:
- Man Sandwich by BeatrixKiddoe
- Hugs by BeatrixKiddoe
- Kissing by BeatrixKiddoe
- and more hugs by BeatrixKiddoe
- Then there's 'angst - bigger on the outside' by firefly fan
- Kissing Jack by belsum
- Captain Jack Harkness by firefly_fan
- She was blonde by firefly_fan
- 169 years by ceindreadh
Other stuff: - The Sycorax by Lantern7
- Genetic Transfer (from "The Evolution of the Daleks") by Nyghtblade.
From Heroes: - Scrubs (really, any excuse I can find to look at Peter Petrelli) by BeatrixKiddoe
- Time Travel Face by ibroketuesday
And Firefly Fan has a wonderful set of Christopher Eccleston motivator pix: - Eccleston is Sexy
- Eccelstion is still sexy
- and sexier yet
- and just in case you didn't believe it, polyglot adds her proof and even more proof and then a bonus for more variety. So to speak.
- And this one from Heroes just made me laugh.
- Before I go off to bed, two more irresistible hugs, one from Ten and one from Nine.

Date: 2007-06-22 11:32 am (UTC)They're called motivators because they are based on posters you can buy in the stores that have pretty pictures (often of dolphins or sunsets) and a 'motivational' word or phrase under them, like COURAGE or STRIVE FOR SUCCESS or something like that. There's always a black frame around the picture, with the words in white.
Often the fannish version emulates the font of the commercial originals.

And in just over a week, we'll be out of new Who and will be reduced to re-watching Nine. Oh the suffering! ;)

Put that way, I'm quite looking forward to it - much as I've been enjoying having new episodes.

Date: 2007-06-23 12:41 am (UTC)As for #18: I think that what made it funny to me is the fact that in the show, the relationship between Mr. Bennet and Claire is so prefect as a father-daughter relationship, so wonderful in every way, all the more so because of Mr. Bennet's initial moral ambiguities - well, the whole point is the absurdity of the idea that there could be anything sexual there, and the Petrelli connection/relationship when fans like to play around with the idea of Petrellicest. In other words, Jack Coleman has nothing to worry about, really.
But I understand his concern.
