Loving the Alien

Jack stood on a rooftop, surveying his city. Cardiff. Rift City. He'd come here because of the Rift; stayed here because of the Rift. Invisible, intangible, it shaped his life.

The Doctor had visited because of the Rift, too. From this vantage point, Jack could see the restaurant where they lunched. The roof of City Hall, where they'd confronted Mayor Blaine. The paths they'd walked. From that spot there - the fountain, the invisible lift - the TARDIS left for the stars.

Cardiff was a gate to infinities. Here, he could never forget the alien he loved, and he never wanted to.

Excellent!

PS -- CBC DW Schedule Update...

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation have changed their plans to air
The Runaway Bride on Monday June 11th. Earlier this week a representative from the CBC confirmed for Outpost Gallifrey that if the National Hockey League Stanley Cup playoffs were completed before that date the 2006 Christmas special would be aired. This is no longer the case.

An announcement on the CBC Doctor Who web site now states that The Runaway Bride will now air on CBC on the night of Monday June 18th at 12am midnight (12:30am in Newfoundland).

Glad you enjoyed it!

As for "The Runaway Bride" - airing it at midnight? That's downright weird!

Okay, so I'm nearly on holiday...

Ooh, pretty. I always think Torchwood does a great job of 'showing Cardiff off' and this is great, showing Jack's affection for the place and its influence on him. Nice. :)

I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was odd, but this was one where it was difficult to fit all I wanted to say into a drabble shape - there were so many reactions and feelings for Cardiff that I cold have focussed on. Perhaps I'll put it all in a story some day.

I know. 3000 outstanding charges with another 6,000 being investigated. That's about right, actually. :) I love that the guard android specifically put the Doctor in that cell to get the Governor out.

I chortled! And started counting charges on my fingers. Couldn't get to 3,000, but I could think of a few!

These little segments are really delightfully tight in their writing and editing. It's very satisfying, for such brief entertainment.
