A beautiful, amazing thunderstorm out there. I can hardly see across the street... the wind is wild and suddenly there's no light in the sky. Gorgeous.
I too saw the thunderstorm ... it started with a *roar*, and I thought hail was coming down at first.
It's still drizzling out there, but the heaviest downpour is probably over. It still feels "wet-blanket" muggy out there though ... exactly what I dislike about Ottawa's summers.
Yes, this summer seems particularly muggy. I don't mind it so much for itself - but it does seem to make my allergies worse! (Actually, it probably isn't that so much as that humidity makes candidiasis worse and candidiasis tends to make allergies worse. Same result, though it isn't direct causation.)
The thing is: I really don't like dry desert climates. So I try not to complain.
Being as Winnipeg (where I grew up) is actually a semi-desert or "steppe" climate, I'm actually biased in the opposite direction. Hot and dry fazes me not, but having a good water supply *is* important.
When I was in Winnipeg (very briefly) I liked the climate - it was a nice day. My experience of deserts is from San Diego and Riverside CA and the Arizona desert. Interesting country, but I hated the dryness.
Prairie country, I think I might like, because it isn't quite so dry.
