fajrdrako: ([Heroes] - Peter)
[personal profile] fajrdrako

[livejournal.com profile] maaboroshi and I did a lot of screaming and speculating as we watched. I loved it and can hardly wait for next season.

My main question is: Will Peter be alive and present next season? My secondary wonder: will Claude be back? Could my two favourite characters be gone for good?

Well, yes, of course they could be, but I'm sure that they will be back.... If it's like comics at all (and it is), the good ones are never gone for long.

It's an amazing thing, this show. Even if Peter Petrelli were dead and gone and never to return, I'd love the show still, for so many reasons - so many good characters. I can't think of any other show where I would forgive them for killing off my favourite. Not that I think they have done so, absolutely not.

Oh those Petrelli brothers. Their "I love you" scene was one - you will not be surprised to hear - was one where [livejournal.com profile] maaboroshi and I were screaming out loud. Yes, Nathan has redeemed himself yet again, without every clarifying himself in my eyes - and I love that. Mama Petrelli is still scary. Scarier than ever.

What was that with Charles Devreaux and Peter's vision of his own past? And all that about Peter's unconditional love? I loved it all with a passion, but I don't entirely understand it.... But the speech about Peter being love and that being the important thing further gives me hope that he will be back, that the heroism of the Petrelli brothers will be redemptive and continue to be significant to the story.

Matt was interesting again.

What was Isaac's plan, for which he died? Did that happen?

Niki is still pretty dull, but she had some good moments - such as when she saw Jessica's reflection and Jessica told her that Candice was not her. Though I really like DL's power, he has been becoming increasingly dull too, leaving Micah as the only interesting one in the family.

Mr. Bennet - it's now predictable that he should be wonderful. As is Claire. And we now know his first name. That seems as significant a revelation as anything else.

I wonder who Molly's bogyman is, and whether he's someone we've met.

Hiro was wonderful, particularly in his dialogue with Ando. And the bit we got of Vol. 2 - was an eclipse in the 17th century the cause of the genetic mutations? Or were there already mutants then, and our characters their descendants?

My secondary wonder: will Claude be back?

My guess is that Claude is gone and brain-eaten by Sylar, because of the fresh blood on the floor of the loft. It explains why when Peter says "He must be hiding in plain sight", Sylar appears *out of nowhere*.

Poor Claude.

And I assume that Peter will be back because he is indestructible. :)

And "Noah" is quite the appropriate name for a man who goes around collecting beings to save the world. *g*

Yup, I love "Noah" as Mr. Bennet's first name.

And of course Peter is indestructible.

Your theory about the blood on the floor of the loft, and Sylar's apparent invisibility powers, may well be right. But I hope you're wrong. I liked Claude too much to lose him so soon.

From: [identity profile] benbenberi.livejournal.com
Hm. I hope you're wrong about Claude, but it fits.

Still, even if he's dead in the present, if Vol. 2 is all about "Generations" one can hope for lots of opportunities to include him in past-time storylines. He was *Noah*'s partner, after all.

It would be great to see more stories of Claude in the past. I'd like that.

But I don't believe that Claude is gone forever from the present and future. Mostly because I don't want to believe it!

Amen to that. Claude is not dead because I refuse to allow it to be so. I lost Nine, dangit, I'm not losing Claude! :P

Good point. I watched "Bad Wolf" again yesterday and I was practically weeping over how much I love and miss Nine. Of course I love Ten too but sometimes I am just forcibly reminded that it isn't the same.

So I hope we have Claude. I want Claude! I love Claude.

From: [identity profile] ataniell93.livejournal.com
I don't want to and I've read spoilers that give me hope to the contrary. But if he is, I'm done with it.

I don't love Nathan like you love Peter, I love Nathan like you love Jack Harkness.

Date: 2007-05-22 05:59 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] fajrdrako.livejournal.com
Well, I confess, if Captain Jack Harkness were to be killed off in either Torchwood or Doctor Who I'd go into mourning and never watch television again; I'd join a cloistered order and wear black hoods and only speak on the Ides of March on alternate years.

Or something.

Let's hope it never comes to that - aside from the fact, of course, that Jack has been killed on-screen five times now - at least - and that's true only if you count the times he was killed in "Cyberwoman" as one death.

I'd be willing to bet money that Peter and Nathan will be back next season. Claude too. They're superheroes, it's practically in their job description. (Though they probably don't know this yet.)

Emma and I did quite a bit of sqeeing last night. And when Nathan and Peter did their thing we just about fell out of the bed.

I was hoping Claude was still alive since he just up and disappeared (so to speak) but that explanation is pretty good and probably right.

And for some speculation. I wonder if Grandma Petrelli is Molly's monster who can see her. Grandma is pretty fearsome and I speculate that her power is to influence people...make them do what she wants them to do. It's not perfect since Nathan did break away finally.

And Charles was a surprise.

I did think the ending was a bit too fast. I was left thinking...was that all? Hiro stabs Syler and that's it? That's the end of Syler? Well, apparently not. Did Molly's monster drag Syler's body into the sewer? Which would discount Grandma since I don't see her running around in places like that.

Well, yes. That was quite a scene.

I wonder if Grandma Petrelli is Molly's monster who can see her.

I wondered that - Molly didn't specify by gender, did she? And Mama Petrelli is in exactly the right position - she seems to know all the key players, and goodness knows, she manipulates Nathan. We don't know her agenda. [livejournal.com profile] maaboroshi has the same theory as you do about her powers - which seems plausible enough.

No, not the end of Sylar, though maybe the end of Sylar for a while. I liked the way having Hiro stab Sylar made Isaac's comic book come true.

Did Molly's monster drag Syler's body into the sewer?

I was assuming that Sylar crawled, but he was unconscious or dead last we saw him. Hmm. Linderman has regenerative powers - if he's alive, and thinks Sylar would be useful, maybe he has him.

I keep wondering where the Haitian went. He seems to be serving Mama Petrelli, but it's hard to tell with him.

Date: 2007-05-22 02:20 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] mommimus-prime.livejournal.com
Yeah, we really don't know her agenda. It's certainly her own. I forgot about the Haitian. That's another loose end that I hope will be picked up next season. Linderman looked quite dead but we only hear that he is dead from the Mama so it's possible he's not dead but she taking advantage to follow her own agenda.

I couldn't really tell what had happened in that scene with the sewer and the blood. It's possible he could've crawled but he was pretty done so I went with being dragged.

And Matt actually survived. He was the one we were hoping would get killed. He's so dumb.

Date: 2007-05-22 09:59 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] fajrdrako.livejournal.com
I forgot about the Haitian.

I found him fascinating. I kept thinking that if he stepped in at the right time in the right place, he could save the world - but he hasn't done so. He seemed to have Claire's best interests at heart, and then seemed allied with Mama Petrelli, and then - gone. Gone where?

Linderman looked quite dead

He may have been, but regenerative powers can bring a person back.

but we only hear that he is dead from the Mama

Who might be lying, or might have been lied to.

Matt actually survived. He was the one we were hoping would get killed. He's so dumb.

Hopelessly stupid. I was very irritated by his utter idiocy five or six episodes ago; since then, I have found him more interesting because of his connections to Molly and to Mr. Bennet. I rather like the way he doesn't have the brains to use his own powers effectively, but Mr. Bennet does. It's as if Bennet - who seems to have no powers of his own - is the one wielding Matt's power, because Matt's too dumb to figure out what to do with his own skills. I like that.

I thought Hiro should havce cut off Sylar's head. Really. Don't these guys ever watch horror movies? The monsters always come back unless you cut off their heads.

Hee! Well, I'm not complaining, since we got to look at the wonderful Tim Sale art on several occasions.

Loved Ando's role in it too. What a great character. Just about everyone else in the show, if they don't already have powers, I think they should have powers, and I keep speculating what they might be. But Ando? He's perfect as he is.

Yes, I agree - Bennet doesn't need powers, he has other people's powers that he can use. And he's smart enough not to need them anyway.

I'd like to see Mohinder with a power, but I can't think what - no sign of anything yet that I can guess.

The writers have said in various places that the powers are character-driven, so as a geneticist, maybe he could be a human molecular analysis machine, or something.

Hrrm. I believe them, but I'm not sure what it means. Peter is a human sponge? Claire is indestructible? The Haitian is neutral?

Maybe Mohinder sees connections.

Peter is a human sponge?

Claude called him an empath, and he is empathetic, taking on other people's problems, as well as their powers. He's also weighed down by other people's perceptions of him.

Claire is indestructible?

Claire called it her own "private little freak show." What better coming of age story than for a teenager to come to terms with that?

The Haitian is neutral?

The Haitian will be dealt with in a graphic novel this summer. The hiatus novels start this coming Monday.

Nice scene. I like to see interaction between Peter and Bennet, based on the pivot of their mutual love for Claire.

Interesting interview too. Jack Coleman is so good, I'm glad they decided to make the most of his talents. I liked this paragraph particularly:

"Jack brought so much depth to his scenes with Hayden, there was such a sweetness there, that the audience was left freaking out, wondering if they could trust what looked like a father's love," Green wrote. "The question we heard the most during our first few episodes was people demanding to know if he was a good guy or a bad guy. The thing about Jack is that he was convincingly both. Kind and loving in one moment, menacing and deadly in the next. There's something irresistible about someone you can't quite pin down morally."

Though by the end I think Bennet was convincingly good, but for a while that moral uncertainty was compelling.

While I'm not a fan of Petrellicest, I think I'll squee with them this time. The 'I love you' scene just seems such a simple and wonderful way to end that storyline.

I'm glad that for once the fictional world was not saved from its doomsday because boy meets girl, but saved by other kinds of love, like familial love(Nathan&Peter), like friendship(Hiro&Ando). Thinking of that, in Torchwood, the world is rather endangered than saved by Gwen and Owen and maybe Ianto who try to save their lovers.

And I can't help thinking maybe Hiro will turn out to be the kensei himself...

Ooh - Heroes news, thank you!

a romantic interest for Claire

Intriguing.

surrogate mother for Niki's (Ali Larter) son

I'd've said Micah already has more than enough mothers!

an Irish mobster

I've always thought of the Petrellis as mobsters who have earned outward respectability through success. Not to say that Peter and Nathan themselves are mobsters but their father was probably a Godfather.

a sexy Latina

That scares me. Sounds sexist and racist at the same time, but I shouldn't be judgemental. So far the show is well written enough to avoid stereotypes.

Heh. It's true... and not just the obvious Nikki/Jessica thing either.

If this were any other show, I would strain myself rolling my eyes in mock despair. As for "sexy Latina", the first thing that comes to mind is Eva Longoria and I have an irrational, yet quite passionate, hate-on for Eva. Gawds! Don't let it be an Eva-type. But you're right, I have full confidence they won't muck it up.

If it's the same guy, it would be interesting continuity. But he seemed a little bland. I'd like to see her with someone else who has powers.

I had to look up who she is. Right: the "Desperate Housewives" woman. Heh.

But you're right, I have full confidence they won't muck it up.

Their track record so far is good, and I like the way they've handled cultural and racial diversity so far. But a person can't help worrying.
