Confidences and Revelations

"It isn't my name. It's his. I stole it," Jack told Tosh. "...I didn't know he was so hot."

She'd never seen Jack - authoritative, calm Jack - so off balance. "Something happened, and I can't die."

Her heart wept for him, a man without a home in time or space.

"I was a con man," he confessed, in love with someone about to die. Tosh took his hand, thinking of the secrets he had kept from everyone for so many years. Alone, isolated, regardless of whoever shared his bed.

She took his secrets as a gift, and cherished them.

This is really nicely done and capitalizes on one of my favorite moments of Jack/Tosh interaction.

So glad you enjoyed it! Yes, I really like the interaction between Jack and Tosh in "Captain Jack Harkness", especially two moments: the first when she says "I'm enough lost here, without you keeping secrets from me," and the other being at the end, when she is saying nothing, just touching his hand as they sit at the table and the other Jack watches.

Yes! And I love that at the end of the episode it's her who goes to Jack.

I like that too, and that she toasts the other Jack in just such a way that you know she knows that Jack is feeling guilt and shame as well as grief, and she says just the right thing: that Jack would be proud of him.

Tosh and Jack will do a lot of good for each other.

Yes. I love the scenes when they are together and I wish we had more of them. Even when they're in opposition - when Jack is baiting her and teasing her in "Greeks Bearing Gifts", for example - and when they are working together in "Combat".

Seems to me that the ending of "Greeks Bearing Gifts" and "Captain Jack Harkness" are nicely complementary - in the first, it ends with Jack talking to Tosh and making her feel better about the loss of a lover, and what happened in the episode; in CJH, it's the other way round.

Sadly, no, I can't get the US Sci-Fi channel, that's only available in the States. Faugh.
