Roman soldiers..
May. 14th, 2007 04:17 pmAs I was walking back to work after going to the bank just now, I was walking half a block behind two Roman soldiers. They had scarlet plumed helmets and breastplates and flappy leather skirts and greaves and sandals - and each had a gladius in his hand. They looked sort of like this, except their tunics were brown, not red.
I couldn't help remembering Captain Jack saying that an exuberant Roman soldier was his idea of a good time, and wondering if the Rift had opened again.

Sorry. Political views stuck a couple of millennia ago. Rather anti-Roman. They gave us men in miniskirts, and took away pretty much everything else. I apologise for the outdated foaming at the mouth.

3. Catullus
There may be someone or something else, but if there is, I've forgotten him/her/it.

Date: 2007-05-19 01:08 am (UTC)Duh. Of course
The whole city has Senators fever this week, and since I am sports-blind, I have been entirely ignoring it and doing my best to pretend it isn't happening. But obviously it had something to do with the game.

Here's a fun difference between Canada's national capital, and America's: no way, nohow, could ANYBODY get away with walking down the sidewalk four blocks from the White House with a gladius in his hand! And here these fellows were, just that far from Parliament Hill. I love Canada.

I'd say, hockey.
I'd say you're right.
have you seen any black Senators t-shirts for a good price?
I've seen them being worn by people in the streets, but I haven't been into any stores to look at them. If I come across them, I'll let you know what they cost.

Hee! I suspect they were plastic gladiuses (er, gladii) but they looked pretty cool.
I love Canada.
Yeah, me too.

Plastic or not is of no matter to Secret Service officers. Over-react first and let the reporters ask the questions at the press conference later.
I love Canada.
Yeah, me too.
Get rid of that Harper dude, and I'm in.

Date: 2007-06-05 12:48 am (UTC)On the bright side, Hillary Clinton seems to be steaming full ahead, which I like. I see her as having served an eight-year apprenticeship in the Oval Office, and besides that, she's smart and resourceful. (And, um, really hot.)
