Brunch...

I had a lovely brunch this morning at the Chimo Hotel's restaurant, Clancy's. Buffet. Lillian was in town from Montreal with her mother and her mother's friend Alice. We also invited Alice's nephew Ed, whom I work with, and Ed's partner Keith, who is a friend of Donna - we're getting really into the intricate-small-world thing here, and only a few degrees of separation. I'd never met Keith before, though I've known Ed for more than twenty-five years. He was as delightful and attractive as I expected.

And then there was Sandi and Pat, and Beulah and Lionel, and me. A remarkably good time was had by all, and good food too: roast beef and devilled eggs being the highlights for me. I avoided the desserts, to everyone's surprise. I have such a reputation for gluttony that whenever I show restraint my friends are astounded.

Maybe I should work on changing that.

Freaking the friends can be a fun and satisfying experience.

I'm glad y'all had such a big time!

I often think that a brunch is more fun than an evening dinner with a lot of friends. It's usually cheaper, and nobody starts out tired from the day.

Plus, if you find the right buffet, you can choose from both breakfast and lunch items, depending on your mood. As any good hobbit philosopher will tell you, "It's all about the dinner [& the snack, & the brunch, &...]"

;)

Oh, that's so true. Time it right and you can have First Breakfast and Second Breakfast at the same sitting, with a break for coffee in the middle. And then lunch. Perfect!

And gustatorily efficient, too.

No, no: for hedonism. And we admire you for it. Here, you were merely being selective in your indulgence... right? All the more admirable. Save up some anticipation for later indulgence...!

Yes, hedonism, of course. And I revel in it!
