For the dodecal challenge #15 at [livejournal.com profile] svdodecals: (144 words) -

"Write something involving Clark and/or Lex and a flower or flowers - real or artificial, gifts or growing wild, in Nell Potter's shop or the Nicodemus plant, or anything else."

~ ~ ~

Slumber

Clark felt the touch of something against his skin. He could smell flowers. There was a movement of the bed - Lex? Smiling, his eyes still shut, Clark reached for his lover.

Lex had moved.

Clark lay half-asleep still in a peaceful doze, wanting to caress Lex's skin, to continue his exploration of that smooth white body. Their lovemaking had been interrupted by sleep.

Something insubstantial fell into his upturned palm, meeting his fingers as lightly as a breath, as soft as the warm breath blowing onto his left nipple. Clark smiled, stretching. The breath disappeared.

He opened his eyes. "Lex?"

Lex knelt naked over him, his cupped hands raised, full of crimson petals. They fell slowly down over Clark's pale skin, drifting over the silver sheet, filling the air with their gentle perfume, carpeting the bed.

Clark slept in a sea of rose petals.

*sigh*

That's so beautiful. I just knew Lex was a romantic :) You've set a very sensual scene here. I especially like this line:

Something insubstantial fell into his upturned palm, meeting his fingers as lightly as a breath, as soft as the warm breath blowing onto his left nipple.

So perfectly captures that half-awake feeling where you're not sure what's real yet.

*happy sigh*

Well, the Lex of my imagination is a romantic, who has suffered to earn the status.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments!

This is such a lovely image. I'm going to hold on to it for a long time.

Thank you for the comment - I'm glad you liked it.

What a wonderful icon! Do we love all the same poets?

Maybe not surprising.

If you aren't careful, I'll issue a cummings challenge. Once I've met the Eliot challenge, of course.

Eeeps! A cummings challenge! You have such dangerous ideas. Now I'm going to start thinking about this. Not good, not good... *g*

The icon is by sophie amande, who has made a whole series of BtVS icons with cummings quotes. I have a couple of others, like the one here.

No doubt cummings was totally unaware of it, but his poetry is just *made* for slashy icons and stories.

You're think of cummings now, hmm? I am so proud of my corruptive poetry-slash influence!

Imagine Lex saying to Clark, "i love my body when it is with your body...."
