This made me laugh.

The sad thing is, I'd go to see it if I could.

I love it!
And the scary thing is: it's plausible!

Uh-huh, and it might even be fun... I'm not one who thinks Shakespeare has to be cerebral. Think of it as overturning preconceptions....

I'm not sure of those high-tech explosions though. Elsinore goes ka-blooey?

It never was: there were always sword-fight/action scenes and low comedy for the groundlings!

As it should be. I often think Shakespeare would be appalled at the lack of life in some productions I've seen of his plays.

At other times - not.

Too funny!

This reminded me of a Hamlet preview within The Last Action Hero, also a Schwarzenegger film. The preview had the tag line: "Something is rotten in the State of Denmark ... and Hamlet is taking out the trash."

I think part of that may be among the clips used to make the 'trailer'.

They're listed at the end on screen.

It's a clever expansion of the joke in Last Action Hero, and yeah, truth to tell I'd go and watch it too. :)

It's funner with Hamlet, but can't you just imagine Macbeth done in that high-action style?

Oh yeah! Duncan slain by Macbeth in a wire-fu castletop battle at night. And Birnam Wood played by the approaching US Marine Corps. Then rounded off with another wire-fu battle, Macbeth versus Macduff, only Macduff has been trained by three elite ninja-witches!

Why don't they make films like this any more? ;-)

I can just imagine the duel at the end. Laertes brings a rapier. Hamlet brings an AK47.

Loved the idea of Alan Rickman's Sheriff as Laertes.
