I was reading the entry on Captain Jack Harkness at The Doctor Who TARDIS Index File wiki and enjoyed it very much, despite the typos. (I'd love to go in and fix them but don't have the time. Maybe later.)

I came across a detail I hadn't seen before, under the heading "Behind the Scenes": Jack Harkness' first name was originally "Jax".

What's the source for that?

I think this is from one of the Confidentials, or something John said, or both. I know I've heard it before, I just can't pinpoint where. Glad they decided not to go with that, though. Ick.

It occurs to me that "Jax" is an even worse choice since it makes me think of Jackie Tyler - Pete often calls her "Jacks". Which I like when he does it. But transferring that to Captain Jack? Uh-uh. No way. Never.
