"Do you want me to tell you something really subversive? Love is everything it's cracked up to be. That's why people are so cynical about it.... It really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for. And the trouble is, if you don't risk anything, you risk even more." - Erica Jong

mmm. Perhaps I never experienced real love? Perhaps the only thing that needed fighting was indifference (either mine or partner), feels hardly brave. I choose myself, not feeling crumbling up in a doomed love, no that is hardly brave I think. I guess the bravery lies in fighting unaccepting surroundings, but I never had to struggle against those.
No, well, perhaps I am not good at love. At romantic love.
I am good at love for my family, my friends and even myself. Maybe it will happen. Who knows...

Who can define real love? I get annoyed with people talking about others having 'a crush' or 'infatuation' - no one can judge that except the person feeling the emotion. Love is real love when the person feeling it believes it is.

I choose myself, not feeling crumbling up in a doomed love, no that is hardly brave I think.

The wisdom lies in defining what's best. A bad love can be the worst thing in the world - which doesn't mean it isn't 'real love', but it means it's a danger to be fought, and to find escape from.

Some people don't even believe in romantic love. That's just because they've never experienced it, maybe don't want to.

Maybe it will happen. Who knows...

The thing I am most sure of is that you can't just choose it, or make it happen, or control it when it does. It's bigger than that, and more powerful. Deep and life-changing stuff.

It's true: love is worth risking everything. I've had my heart broken to the point it will never be possible to recover, and you know what? It was worth it. And then some.

This doesn't mean it's easy, though. Just worth it.

Speaking my thoughts for me again, you are. Ever so thank you.

I was surprised to see such a good quote from Erica Jong, whose writing has failed to impress me in the past.

Have you see the movie "Match Point" by Woody Allen? It's all about love...

No, I tend to avoid comedies, and I associate him with comedies, though I did like his movie "Manhattan" very much. So should I see "Match Point"?

No, it isn't a comedy, it's a terrible tragedy and one of the best Woody Allen's film. I also didn't like his comedies (exept maybe one or two), but this movie is something another . And the actors, I think you would like them: Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Rhys Meyers. I would say, you should see the movie, but it's only my very subjektive opinion. I've written here about it, because it's about love, and how much it can destroy.

Good heavens yes, I like them both - especially Meyers. How did I miss this movie? I'll make a point of watching it as soon as I find some time.
