Scary, scary, and brilliant.

Woo. I was so worried that Peter would be killed by Sylar - ! I was willing to sacrifice anyone, even Mohinder, if only Peter would survive. Loved, absolutely loved, the way Sylar started to open his head.... And Mohinder on the ceiling? Scary. So Peter and Sylar have a face-off: whose power trumps the other?
  • Loved it that we hardly saw Matt all episode. How's he going to get out of this? Is he going to get out of this? I found him endearing in the beginning of the season, now I think he's too stupid to live.

  • Scary things: Shapeshifter as Mrs. Bennet. Sylar, always. Mohinder in revenge mode - but I totally loved that. Mohinder on the ceiling. Claire with Mama Petrelli. She's working with the Haitian? Didn't see that coming. I love it, totally love it.

  • Also scary: Hiro and Ando in the future, on the rooftop, New York in devastation. Loved seeing Ando turn up in Linderman's security, though I wasn't surprised - it was the sort of thing I expected, I just didn't know when or where.

  • I loved it that Claire went looking for Peter, and found Mama Petrelli and the Haitian.

  • Mohinder, if you have powers, it might be a good idea to use 'em now.

  • So: Nathan was working with the FBI. I think I'm going to eat my words: he isn't so awful after all. I should have had more faith in Peter's faith in him. I still don't like him, but... well. What's to say? I'm busy eating my words.

  • Nice to see Nathan and Niki together again. They're so sexy together.

  • The Bennet family is fascinating. I wonder if Lyall is as normal and innocent and uninvolved as he appears.

  • I have Mama Petrelli pegged as some sort of kingpin.

  • I'm not into the Nathan/Peter slash because I don't like Nathan, but my goodness, when they're together, Nathan just can't keep his hands off Peter, can he? Love the way Peter can and does appear and disappear.

  • The whole mystery of who knows who and who knows what is fascinating... Every revelation adds layers to the plot.

  • I wonder where Claude is hiding out.

  • Things don't look good for Isaac.

  • Loved Mr. Linderman. A cook! A scary cook!

  • Our heroes have got to learn: when you have a gun pointed at your enemy's head, and you're about to kill him, don't give him a chance to talk. Just don't.

  • Who'd have guessed Mr. Bennet would turn out to be such a complex, fascinating character?

  • We're overdue for some more good sex scenes.

I still cannot stand either Nathan or Nikki

Mohindar!!! Man, I love him. No!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, the Mrs Petrelli thing was scary, but we know this is genetic so we should suspect every family member, at this point.

Yeah, the cook thing was cool.

Can I kick Claire?

Dammit, yet another hiatus...

I still cannot stand either Nathan

I still dislike Nathan, but he obviously isn't as corrupt as I had thought.

or Niki

Don't like her, but she's sexy with Nathan. Why do I think so, when I dislike both of them singly? I don't know!

Mohindar!!! Man, I love him.

My goodness yes, and more all the time.

we know this is genetic so we should suspect every family member

I have been suspecting for some time that Papa Suresh, Mama Petrelli (and Papa Petrelli too), have or had powers. I wonder about Nathan's legitimate kids, too.

Dammit, yet another hiatus...

Keeping us in horrible, terrible, appalling suspense!

I've very tempted to write Peter fic in the meantime.

I do not understand (not even a little) why people dislike Nathan--he and Hiro are my absolute favourites, with Claire a close third. [livejournal.com profile] watchingj00 was all over me last night with "You like the bastard politician?" and I was like, YES. Yes, I know he's done this and that and the other thing, but a lot of the time, those things he does make perfect sense to me.

Usually I put it down to Slytherin-hate (Slytherin as a personality type, just in case any of those crazycakes at FW who think I believe the houses are real is listening) but you don't hate Slytherins.

But as for Nathan/Niki, it's actually common for people to find two characters they dislike sexy together if the reasons they dislike them are similar and there's chemistry.

I do not understand (not even a little) why people dislike Nathan--

Keep in mind that, as of this week, I don't dislike him so much, and as of next week I may be even liking him - here's an explanation of my reasoning, which I will try to explain without dissing your favourite guy. Through the first dozen episodes or so I disliked Nathan because:

(1) I thought he was corrupt (and, as a corollary, the good things he did looked hypocritical);

(2) I didn't like the way he treated Peter officiously, and as if Peter wasn't an adult who could think for himself - remember that Peter was my guy;

(3) I just don't like his looks, a purely aesthetic gut reaction. If I come to like him, I will no doubt like his looks, since I'm adaptable that way, if I have incentive to change. At least... I think I am. I come to adore characters who don't look physically attractive to me, and then come to love their looks because I love them. This hasn't happened to me yet with Nathan, but it isn't impossible.

No, I love Slytherins, and I don't see Nathan as a Slytherin-type at all. If I did, I'd probably like him better.

I probably react to the Nathan/Niki pairing on sheer chemistry. I dislike them for different reasons: I find Niki boring and not terribly useful, while Nathan is far from boring and he certainly isn't useless or passive.

I love the scenes when Nathan is with Hiro, too. "Frying man" cracks me up every time.

You are so much more coherent than me right now. XD

Hannah. Hannah as Mrs. Bennet.
Wait Hana is the one with "wireless" powers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hana_Gitelman), right? Not the shapeshifter? Did they name two characters the same name or did I miss something?

Mr. Bennet = still complex, fascinating and made of awesome.

Oops, yes, I confused the names. So what is shapeshifter's name?

Hmmph. I don't know.

Yes, Mr. Bennet is utterly awesome. But he isn't the only awesome one.

Shapeshifter's name is Candace (sp?), I believe. I first heard it on the commentary for last week's episode.

Hee! I love this show SO much.

The show is so good, and getting better. Amazingly!

Candace. I don't think they've actually said it on the show yet. Do you get the commentaries on the website?

I'll have to go back and watch, but I think she was introduced (possibly to Matt).

Yes, the commentaries are on the nbc.com Heroes site (http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/), as is the graphic novel. You not only get to hear them talking, but *see* them. A really good treat when it's someone pretty. :)

No. Biiig sigh. You can watch the commentaries online. As with the videos on the site, I just get an ad and a message saying I am in the wrong country so I don't get to watch whatever is there. See me groan, complain, and stomp my feet in impotent frustration. It's not fair, I tell you! Not fair!

I can only hope at some point these will become available to Canadians somehow.

At least they'll let me read the graphic novel online.

Me no coherent right now.

But Peter will live. Remember when future!Hiro told him he almost didn't recognize him with the longer hair and no scar?

And can that boy scream or what?

Oh pleeeeeease let Mohinder live! He's too pretty to die...especially now that he's shown he's not a blockhead. Okay, mistaken about what it would take to keep Sylar subdued, but the plan was good.

What a comforting thought.

Except... Hiro presumably can and does go into the future in alternate timelines. (or will New York really be destroyed?) So it might not be so comforting after all. Erk. I hope you are right.

And can that boy scream or what?

Oooh, yes, beautifully!

Oh pleeeeeease let Mohinder live! He's too pretty to die...

Is it possible that he's prettier all the time? Or maybe it's just that he's prettiest when he's angry, and frightening, and about to kill a man he hates...!

mistaken about what it would take to keep Sylar subdued, but the plan was good.

Note to Mohinder: next time, shoot first, talk later.

I liked the fact they used Hiro as Nathan's human credential, again.

Even though she's in danger, I liked that Claire rebelled, because it showed that she's coherent enough to rebel even after everything she's been through. After all, any one of the incidents Claire has experienced would have been enough to put many people in the loony bin.

I loved hearing the Haitaian and Mama Petrelli speak French. The whole multi-lingual aspect of the show is making me very happy.

Mohinder and Sylar -- 'Nuff said!

Peter and Sylar -- 'Nuff said!

Mr. & Mrs. Bennet -- They are Claire's real parents, and I hope she sees them, again, at least, before HRG ends up dead in a pool of his own blood. I'm also praying that they haven't hurt Sandra. Way for them to turn her amnesia on its head. And yes, I do have to say it one more time -- I LOVE HRG!!

I especially loved that first scene in the hotel room with that "I can't pretend this s**t anymore" look on his face as Sandra's talking, and then the ringtone... LOL! And then, the adorable expression on his face when he's confused and she hands him the note. :)

Yes. I love the scenes Hiro and Nathan have together. I like the implication that Nathan likes Hiro.

Even though she's in danger, I liked that Claire rebelled

So do I. She thinks for herself, even when threatened. She doesn't cave to pressure and she doesn't try to take the easiest course, she goes for the best course, whatever the circumstances. Of course she doesn't always know what the best course is, which is part of the fun. She reminds me of some of my favourite teen heroines, like Supergirl or Saturn Girl, or Nancy Drew - where being young doesn't mean being cowardly.

I loved hearing the Haitaian and Mama Petrelli speak French.

Wasn't that wonderful? Such a great touch of verisimilitude and characterization.

I do have to say it one more time -- I LOVE HRG!!

I was a hold-out for a very long time, condemning him for his crimes, particulary the memory-erasing things. Now I love him. And I love this show for giving me characters with so many facets.

the adorable expression on his face when he's confused and she hands him the note

That whole scene had brilliant characterization and acting. His incredulity was just the right touch.

I've been wondering about the implications of Claire's power for a while, now, and it made sense to me that a doting, protective father in HRG's position would wonder, too...

HRG ponders Claire's journeys. (http://www.geocities.com/rdefc/misc/somewhere.html)

Another great Heroes site is http://www.herosite.net. You can access Director Greg Beeman's blog from there. It has lots of great behind-the-scenes stuff, including pics. Also, check out the blog of the site. Otto, the review blogger, has a marvelous tone when critiquing the eps, and I love his alternate place names. For instance, he refers to the roof of the Deveau Building as the Rooftop of Pigeonly Delight. :)

Here's a quote from Otto's review of Parasite:

Hiro now teleports Ando along for the ride, and doesn't even need to make the scrunched-up face to do it. They teleport to the Rooftop of Pigeonly Delight. The pigeons gave up waiting for the Bearded One to return and planned to fly off into the horizon. Sadly, they were nuked before they got the chance.

Be sure to check ou the graphic novels on the official heroes site, again. They've started a new six-part story about Hana, "Wireless," helping HRG take down the Company. It picks up where the last HRG novel "Family Man" leaves off and will presumably fill in gaps during the hiatus.
