I got this from [livejournal.com profile] thdancingferret. I should not be doing this meme. It will become clear to all that I don't watch anything on TV and I am, in fact, a total fannish fraud.

Bold the series that you've seen for 3 or more episodes. Underline the series that you've seen them complete. If you want, add three more series (keep it in alphabetic order).

[Editorial note from [livejournal.com profile] fajrdrako: Help! I've never even heard of most of these! Were they ever actually shown in Canada?]

I have added two more designations. I put * beside shows in which I participated in its fandom - which usually means that I wrote stories about the characters in it, and might also have sought out friends I could discuss it with, held video-parties, taped it or bought the DVDs, bought fanzines devoted to it, joined net mailing lists and/or LJ-comms, and in some cases, attended conventions.

I put ** beside shows when I think I saw it long ago but I can't recall if I saw one episode or five or six.

You know, I have to refuse on principle to participate in any meme that asks me to alphabetize any additions I make to the list, then places titles beginning with "the" under the letter "T."

::shakes head::

I think my head would probably explode. ;-)

Um, yep, it looks like it is, undeniably, me. ;-)

I'm hangin' in there. You've got me just the teensiest bit confused, though -- Jean C the artist, or Jean C the nice lady I hung out with? (Not that I'm not delighted to hear from either, of course!) :-) How are *you*?

The former, Jean C the artist. (Emphatically not a nice lady *g*) I'm okay. I lost my mother at the beginning of the month, so feeling kind of annoyed with life right now, but coping. Whatcha been up to?

Okay, I accidentally tried to post while logged out, so here goes again:

I may do this meme, even though there's strong potential for embarrassment. My family didn't have very good taste in t.v. shows, and I ended up watching what they did. :P

Some of the listings are anime series, so maybe you don't get some of them? I have [adult swim], so I get to watch anime at night. Wolf's Rain: the anime of pain.

Well, truthfully, through 50 or so years of television now, how much really good TV has there been for people to have good taste in shows? I mean, I think I have good taste in TV, but some years that phrase has been an oxymoron. I think it's only in the past decade or so - maybe a little more - that there has been really top-notch writing on TV.

I've seen some anime, especially yoai, because [livejournal.com profile] maaboroshi gets it and shows me some. But I'm really not familiar with most anime.

Hi!

The Man from U.N.C.L.E.*
You've got a mistake in your HTML there, don't know if you care or not but here I am to point it out to you.

I think i've seen 3 or so episodes of quite a few of those. I think you might like Daria. Of course you might not too but smart and cynical protagnist, ditzy sister and awesome best friend... I love it and well I'm probably just projecting.

With Queer Eye.. D'you remember the names of any of them eg was there a Kyle or a Carson?

I might do this meme sometime but not right now as I don't think Ill have the time.

Fixed "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.", thanks. I loved that show - it was the first show I wrote fanfic about. I liked "The Girl From U.N.C.L.E." too, because I liked Noel Harrison.

I don't remember a Kyle of a Carson on "Queer Eye". I might remember if I saw them. I have a notion it was the American version I saw, but I'm really not sure.

TV? I don't really do TV either ... and *especially* not sitcoms -- though I'll make an exception for Batman (60s). :-) [IMHO, it was a superhero sitcom, which is probably why I find it hard to bear now, and you can no longer stand it.]

That said, here are a list of TV shows I saw that are *not* listed in your list (no particular order):

Space: 1999
New Avengers [from the 70s, set in or near T.O.]
Bewitched [60s series; don't like it nearly as much as when I was a kid]
McMillan & Wife [cop show, usually showing alongside Columbo]
McCloud [also a cop show; *may* have seen all the episodes]
Quincy [medical examiner, late 70s]
Sabrina the Teenage Witch [I thought it was a follow-on to Bewitched above ... not]
Saint, The [original series, in Black+White, from the 50s; I saw it once or twice in reruns, with a young Roger Moore]

The other ones I saw were:
Batman [apparently ran from '66 to '68; mostly too "camp" now]
Columbo
CSI
ER
Firefly [just barely -- looking forward to seeing more]
Flintstones, The [don't believe in putting 'The' first]
Get Smart**
Hawaii Five-0 [if not complete, then pretty close to it]
I Dream of Jeannie**
Jetsons, The [don't believe in putting 'The' first]
Man from U.N.C.L.E., The** [ditto]
Munsters, The** [ditto]
Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?**
Six Million Dollar Man, The** [ditto]
Star Trek
Star Trek: The Next Generation
Twilight Zone, The** [ditto]
X-Files**

This list may be as long as yours, but I doubt it somehow ... and I definitely think I watch *less* TV now than when I was a kid.

I liked the New Avengers! I'm not sure how much of it I saw, but I remember it with fondness.

Bewitched also had a Julius Caesar episode, which I watched recently. Well... comparatively recently.

Firefly is/was a wonderful show.

I scored 36!!! (way more than I thought, since I don't have an TV) but lots of older stuff I saw at home or slightly older and long running stuff that my sister liked and I saw at her place. Plus anime I've downloaded and watch.)

36 is pretty good! I watched a number of things as a kid that I can't even remember - which is not to say I watched a lot of TV when I was young, either, but some. There was a comedy show I liked, whose name I can't remember now, when I was eight. And variety shows, like Andy Williams and Ed Sullivan.

I actually saw a few more in the list that I remember seeing. Oh well. And there were no Dutch Programms on it. I was just discussing a very good children's program from our youth. I was 7 when it was broadcated and she 14 and for both of us it had left very vivid memories. She both the series on DVD and still liked it a lot. I've also read the book it was based on several times (in fact, the author is amongst my list of favourite authors, she wrote one of the first books I ever read, one of the first series and she managed with only the few words you have for such a type of book to write a mysterious and scary story, a real story in wich something happened. I felt the difference with many 'books for young readers keenly'. Anyway, her name is Tonke Dragt and she wrote and illustrated books for all age groups upto young adults, mostly with a fantasy or science fictionish theme.
The book and the television series that started me of is "De zevensprong" (like crossroads but with 7 roads - a sprong also means a jump and there is a nursery rhyme 'de zevensprong' elements that are used)

Anyway, there must be more Dutch stuff that is lacking, but I am not so good at retrieving examples from my memory.

And there were no Dutch Programms on it.

Well, you could add some! There were only two Canadian programmes, "Due South" and "Slings and Arrows" - both of which starred Paul Gross. And an underrepresentation of British shows. I think the list was compiled by an American, which fits the odds on the Internet, so it's for us to add other good stuff. I should have added "Inspector Morse", now I think of it. I saw all of that series, too.

I'd like to add "The Friendly Giant", a Canadian kid's show that people my age grew up with, along with "Chez Helene" and "Razzle Dazzle". Aaah, those were the days.

"De zevensprong"

What a great title! Like a nexus of realities! Well, potentially.

yes, I think it is an appropiate way to describe it. Though it is a long time that I saw and read it I remember a solid world and a world of ridles and rhymes shimering behind it. It was never quite clear when you passed from one reality into the other. A recurring theme in her work BTW.

(I've added Monty Python's FLying circus and Yes Minister (and De Zevensprong) but I am not sure whether I want to put it in my LJ.)

Wow - excellent!

Monty Python

Great choice!

Yes Minister

I only ever saw one episode of that but I remember it as being funny. Since most of my friends work for the government, they were really into it.
