Date: 2007-02-12 07:40 pm (UTC)Bears (and humans) are omnivores because the diet consists of both animals *and* plants.
I think Selob was a carvivore all the way. ::shudder:: (Mind you, I think it's cute in my cat, terrifying if it's an arachnid. :-))

Date: 2007-02-12 07:47 pm (UTC)Yes. Seems to me this is a sign of how visually-oriented we are, by instinct. Cats are beautiful and we love them. Spider... well, I don't love them, though I'm not particularly phobic.

Date: 2007-02-12 07:57 pm (UTC)We had one big one that built a huge web to cover our sliding glass door in the basement every single night last summer/fall. Moths and other bugs would get caught in it if the back light was turned on. I walked into/through that stupid web more times than I can count. Which was just *lovely*, I must say. (You couldn't really see it, and I had some sort of peculiar mental block about it. Forgot it was there like *clockwork*.) But I wasn't particularly bothered by the spider itself. My great-niece was terrified. She let out a bloodcurdling scream that went on for, like, a full minute when her dad jokingly acted like he was going to open the sliding glass door one night while we we all observing the spider. It was like something out of a '50s horror film. ::g::

You could probably make money on screams like that.
