[livejournal.com profile] wijsgeer made me a quiz. The results might be scary... While answering, I thought I was going to turn out as Krishna among the milkmaids, but no, it was more like the Empress of Racnoss. The arachnophobic among you might want to skip this link.

Interesting.

I got the jellyfish, with whatever versions of truthful answers I could come up with...

Sounds more like the Empress of Racnoss all the time.

That's because the Empress of Racnoss is the most AT [admittedly, the only ATS] that there's been on recent Doctor Who.

Did Shelob kill her mates? I don't remember. She just killed everybody she could. Ungoliant too.

Yuck.

Mates? Oh, *good*. Because, you know, one big giant evil spider isn't enough. ;-)

One big giant evil OMNIVOROUS spider.

From: [identity profile] jkluge.livejournal.com
*Is* it omnivorous? Because I thought it only ate meat.

Hmm. I thought Shelob ate orcs and hobbits clothing and all. Now you mention it, though, I'm not sure.

Carnivorous, but eats the tins [or other packaging, such as clothing] as well?

This is a female bananaspider. She gets courted by 1 or more males, they rub up against her. She than chooses 1 for mating. They have been observed to stay together for a whole season.

it is a valentine's quiz afterall ;-)
I find it interesting you (the person in whose honor the quiz is compiled) got a different answer than most, jellyfish seems to dominate the ranks

so far you're the only one who 'fessed up to getting the spider. But there are still two creatures that remain unloved.

Well...I'm not sure, technically, if the clothing, fur or feathers of prey count. Orcs'd be meat, wouldn't they? I mean, I know they're s'posed to be grotesquely mutated elves, or something, but that doesn't make 'em *plants*, does it? ::g::

Bears (and humans) are omnivores because the diet consists of both animals *and* plants.

I think Selob was a carvivore all the way. ::shudder:: (Mind you, I think it's cute in my cat, terrifying if it's an arachnid. :-))

Yes. Seems to me this is a sign of how visually-oriented we are, by instinct. Cats are beautiful and we love them. Spider... well, I don't love them, though I'm not particularly phobic.

No, I'm not really phobic, either. Giant ones, yes. Regular ones, no.

We had one big one that built a huge web to cover our sliding glass door in the basement every single night last summer/fall. Moths and other bugs would get caught in it if the back light was turned on. I walked into/through that stupid web more times than I can count. Which was just *lovely*, I must say. (You couldn't really see it, and I had some sort of peculiar mental block about it. Forgot it was there like *clockwork*.) But I wasn't particularly bothered by the spider itself. My great-niece was terrified. She let out a bloodcurdling scream that went on for, like, a full minute when her dad jokingly acted like he was going to open the sliding glass door one night while we we all observing the spider. It was like something out of a '50s horror film. ::g::

That's a funny spiderweb story. I hate walking into webs - they're sticky and yucky and I'm always finding bits of web in my hair long afterwards.

You could probably make money on screams like that.

LOL It's too bad we didn't have a recorder going at the time. We were all laughing too hard to operate it, anyway. We probably coulda made a fortune on that scream.

One of the cosmic rules of the universe is that you never have a camera, camcorder, or tape recorder available when you need it!
